Social media was abuzz on Tuesday as users shared their reactions to images that seemed to capture President Donald Trump appearing to nod off during a lengthy Cabinet meeting. The two-hour and 15-minute session marked the final Cabinet gathering of the year, during which Trump prompted each member to highlight their achievements from the past year. As the meeting extended, the president’s eyelids seemed to droop, leading the left-leaning PatriotTakes account on X to dub him the ‘Commander in sleep.’

Liberal journalist Aaron Rupar chimed in, noting, ‘Trump looks to be unconscious as Linda McMahon winds down her remarks.’ Education Secretary Linda McMahon was among the last to address the gathering. At 79, Trump has consistently dismissed concerns regarding his health, with the White House recently disclosing more information about an MRI performed as part of his annual physical.

Addressing the press, Trump suggested they focus on his achievements, particularly regarding border issues. ‘But you always find something new, like, “Is he in good health?”‘ he remarked. With a touch of sarcasm, he added, ‘Biden was great.’ Trump continued, ‘I sit here and do four news conferences a day. I field questions from very intelligent lunatics—you people. I give the right answers. There’s never a scandal, never a problem. I provide solutions and answer your little problems,’ Trump stated.

Cabinet members started laughing as the president went on. ‘You go back, and you can’t find anything, but you do, you do stories about Biden was in wonderful health,’ Trump continued. ‘The guy couldn’t do a news conference for eight months.’ ‘If I go one day, I had one day where I didn’t do a news conference. “There’s something wrong with the president,”‘ he added.

It was the president’s sometimes incoherent Truth Social posts, including one that targeted Minnesota’s Governor Tim Walz, that prompted Walz, the 2024 Democratic vice presidential nominee, to demand that the White House release Trump’s MRI results. When asked about Walz’s comments Sunday on board Air Force One, Trump greenlit the release of the MRI results, which White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt did on Monday.

‘You people are crazy,’ Trump told the reporters gathered in the Cabinet Room. ‘I’ll let you know when there’s something wrong. There will be some day, that’s going to happen to all of us. But right now, I think I’m sharper than I was 25 years ago, but who the hell knows.’ He also boasted that he got ‘all As’ when he took his physical, which included a cognitive exam.
