Eric Trump has watched the threats of political violence materialize into a harrowing reality – twice against his father last year, and once fatally against a close political ally just a month ago.
Sitting down ahead of the release of his forthcoming memoir, the president’s middle son made clear that no matter how great the risks become, his family has no intention of retreating from public life.
‘I’ll never remove myself from the stage, I just won’t,’ Eric told the Daily Mail. ‘We clearly live a dangerous life.’
His message is stark for the politicians cancelling events and altering schedules due to a spate of American violence that climaxed with the assassination of Charlie Kirk in broad daylight last month: Accept the risk, or ‘get out.’
‘If that was going to rule the day, get out of politics. Go hide in a cave, go stay in your basement, never be heard from again,’ Eric said. ‘We won’t have a country if people cower to these maniacs.’
Eric will appear at the Ronald Reagan Library in California later this month for a conversation and book signing. And while he admits there will be more security precautions taken for the Trump family as they traverse the country, he insists that rising political violence won’t get them to give up the fight.
On July 13, 2024, President Donald Trump escaped near death when a bullet grazed his ear during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Just two months later in September 2024, another attempted assassin was arrested after aiming a gun at Trump while he was golfing at his Florida club.
A year later, 31-year-old Kirk was assassinated during a stop on his American Comeback tour at Utah Valley University. Video of a bullet ripping through his neck immediately went viral and launched nationwide panic over what sort of political violence might follow.

The Trumps’ political operation is intertwined with Kirk’s Turning Point USA, which aims to mobilize young Americans to get involved in the political process and vote for Republican values. Eric’s book coincidentally hits shelves on Kirk’s birthday, October 14.
‘I do recognize that standing on that stage is an inherent threat,’ Eric said. ‘You better believe that Charlie realized that standing on that stage was an inherent threat. These people are insane, they’re totally sick.’
He added: ‘I fully comprehend that it’s not always safe, I fully comprehend that we often put ourselves in peril. I think it’s the nature of the beast.’
Eric divulged that his family often receives threatening packages of white powder in the mail.
Anthrax in white powder form has been used historically as an intimidation tactic and terrorism threat. The bioweapon is usually sent in an envelope as a way to catch the target off guard when opening their mail. It usually kills a target within one to two weeks of inhalation.
While the actual substance causes death, there’s precedent for hoax attacks where the targets are sent a white powder that is not poisonous but aims to cause panic or intimidate the recipient.
‘You know how many packages of white powder I’ve opened up?’ Eric said. ‘You know how many times my wife has been in the kitchen without kids and opened up a package of exploding white powder?’

Eric says that he and his wife Lara Trump have opened several package of white powder over the years meant to intimidate them
‘There is no one who wants the political violence to go down more than me,’ he said.
But he says it’s not conservatives causing the problem.
‘These days it only seems to be going one way,’ Eric claimed. ‘It only seems to be targeting conservatives.’
‘It has to end, it’s enough of this nonsense.’
In recent years, most politically motivated violence in the US has stemmed from the far right, according to FBI and Homeland Security assessments, though 2025 has seen a broader rise in threats and isolated attacks across the spectrum as polarization deepens.
A CSIS report finds that in the first half of 2025, left-wing terrorist attacks or plots outnumbered those from the far right for the first time in over 30 years.
Eric also railed against the probe into his father’s attempted assassin, claiming he’s not satisfied with how the FBI under former President Joe Biden’s leadership handled the early days of the investigation into Thomas Matthew Crooks.

‘I’m not satisfied at all. I’m not satisfied in the least,’ he said, adding that he goes into the assassination attempt and the fallout in ‘massive granularity’ in his forthcoming book ‘Under Siege: My Family’s Fight to Save Our Nation.’
Trump, his son said, has ‘been remarkably calm and accepting of gross incompetence of what happened that day.’
‘As a son, I’m not,’ he continued. ‘And there’s a lot of people in this country who are not accepting of it, because we know nothing about him.’
Eric lamented that some ‘family pets take longer to be cremated’ than the time it took for the shooter’s body to be destroyed after the attack.
But he expressed optimism and confidence that current FBI Director Kash Patel will ‘get to the bottom of it.’
