US Ambassador to Greece, Kimberly Guilfoyle, is reportedly looking to President Donald Trump for support in bolstering her influence in Greece, as reported by insiders to the Daily Mail.
Guilfoyle, once engaged to Donald Trump Jr., has been serving as the ambassador since September. However, she is already seeking assistance from the elder Trump amid challenges in gaining favor with Athens’ elite circles.
“She made a notable entrance, both positively and negatively, but the initial buzz has faded. Now, the focus is on what she can tangibly achieve for Greece. It’s time to prove whether she’s just talk or capable of action,” shared a political insider based in Greece with the Daily Mail.
Guilfoyle was reportedly seen conferring in the Oval Office with President Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Monday.
According to two sources, as the first female US Ambassador to Greece, Guilfoyle is urging Trump to consider a prominent visit to Greece. This move aims to enhance her standing and emphasize her connection to the White House to the nation’s power brokers.
However, it remains uncertain how her appeal was received, as the former Fox News host was conspicuously absent from Tuesday’s State of the Union address, despite being in Washington, DC, this week.
Some critical media outlets and even Greek politicians have grumbled that Guilfoyle’s focus since taking up the diplomatic post has been more on high-society events and gala appearances than on granular policy negotiations.
‘The US-Greece relationship in general has been like “The Love Boat”. [Guilfoyle] has been part of it, but she is no more than Julie, the social director,’ said a source familiar with the inner workings of the embassy, referencing the event organizer played by actress Lauren Tewes in the hit 1970s sitcom about life onboard a cruise ship.
‘She is putting on great parties, sure, but she is taking credit for things that were in the final stages before she even got nominated,’ the source added.
US Ambassador to Greece Kimberly Guilfoyle is hoping that President Donald Trump will be her knight in shining armor as she struggles to solidify power in the European nation, insiders tell the Daily Mail
One example insiders point to is the recent Offshore Concession Agreements between Greece and a consortium led by US oil company Chevron, giving it exclusive rights for gas exploration off the southern Greek coast.
While Guilfoyle championed the February 2026 ceremonial signing at Maximos Mansion – home to the Greek Prime Minister – the agreement had reportedly been launched and effectively finalized long before she was even nominated as ambassador.
Some concerns have also been raised locally over whether the strength of her policy influence with President Trump has fallen behind that of Tom Barrack, the ambassador of neighboring Turkey.
‘She is better than Barrack at photo-op diplomacy, but he is racking up policy wins. Over the last 10 years, Greeks thought they had an advantage when it came to the US ambassador in Athens compared to the US ambassador to Turkey, and now they feel like they don’t,’ the source familiar with the inner workings of the Greek embassy said.
That said, ‘her greatest accomplishment has been getting high-level eyes on Greece,’ the source added.
Indeed, several top Trump officials who have already visited Guilfoyle including Secretaries Doug Burgum, Chris Wright, and Marco Rubio.
While the Greek defense minister, Nikos Dendias, has been to Washington to meet Secretary of War Pete Hegseth in Washington, with the foreign minister due to fly in on Wednesday.
‘[Guilfoyle] was instrumental in [the meetings], and they are all important,’ the source said.

But it is a Greek visit from Trump that Guilfoyle is still desperate to secure – hence her bold Oval Office request on Monday.
‘There is a lot of speculation about dates and, apparently, to avoid the perception that she had overstepped, she came directly to meet [Trump] in person,’ the same source said.
Her strategy appears to be working. State Department insiders tell the Daily Mail that early July is being tentatively suggested as the target for a Presidential landing.
‘The president said he is considering the visit and when would be best to make the trip,’ an insider said.
With a NATO summit scheduled for July 7-8 in neighboring Turkey, a stopover in Athens would surely be a logistical no-brainer.
Speaking in Athens earlier this month, Guilfoyle teased a potential Trump visit to a crowd of reporters.
‘I know the president is going to be coming,’ she said. ‘And I’m really looking forward to both of them [Trump and First Lady Melania] coming to visit Greece. That would be an amazing honor for the country.’
As Guilfoyle works the West Wing, the Greeks are launching a diplomatic charm offensive of their own.
Greek foreign minister George Gerapetritis is scheduled to be in Washington from Wednesday through Friday for a face-to-face with Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Gerapetritis is no stranger to this administration – he was among the first to meet Rubio back in February 2025 – and this second visit is expected to be a heavy-hitting session.
Sources say the two men will dive into the ‘next level’ of US-Greece cooperation while tackling the world’s most volatile flashpoints, including Iran, Ukraine and Gaza.
Another major discussion lies in a high-stakes energy revolution that has turned Athens into Washington’s most indispensable partner.
While she fights to maintain her glittery standing in Athens, the underlying reality is clear: the alliance has never been more vital
The post in Greece, a sun-soaked vacation destination steeped in ancient history and democracy, was seen as something of an olive branch after Guilfoyle’s engagement collapsed
Known for her fiery rhetoric and attention-grabbing aesthetic, Guilfoyle is often portrayed in the media as a bold personality rather than a traditional diplomat
As the EU races to end all dependence on Russian gas by 2027, Greece is transforming from a Mediterranean vacation hotspot into a vital ‘geopolitical fortress.’
By funneling American liquified natural gas (LNG) northward through its new ‘Vertical Corridor,’ Greece is effectively breaking Russia’s energy grip on the Balkans and Central Europe.
So while Guilfoyle fights to maintain her glittery standing in Athens, the underlying reality is clear: the alliance has never been more vital.
If she secures that Presidential visit in July, it won’t just be a win for her social calendar – it will be the seal on a global partnership.
But the boost for Guilfoyle’s personal reputation will surely be welcome, too. After all, the dramatic end to Don Jr and Guilfoyle’s two-year engagement in December 2024 handed the recently re-elected president an unique dilemma.
Trump had to figure out how to manage the public relations mess caused by his 48-year-old son openly leaving steadfast MAGA supporter Guilfoyle, 56, for years-younger Palm Beach model Bettina Anderson, 39, to whom Don Jr has since got engaged.
And so it was that the president announced that he was nominating Guilfoyle to serve as ambassador to Greece, a clear signal that her loyalty was still valued by the Trump family.
The role comes with its perks. Guilfoyle now lives in Jefferson House, the grace-and-favor ambassador’s villa located in the exclusive Kolonaki neighborhood of Athens, complete with a tennis court and swimming pool.
According to two sources, the first female Ambassador to the Hellenic Republic has gone straight to the top, pushing Trump to commit to a high-profile visit to Greece
In advance of her move, insiders had reportedly warned the ‘Margarita Girl’ – as one former Fox News colleague nicknamed her because of her preference for the cocktail – to mind her manners and stay on high alert during her time as ambassador.
Before she settled into her role, the glamorous former Fox News host initially lobbied to be the ambassador to the Vatican before settling for her comfy post in Greece, multiple sources familiar with the matter exclusively told the Daily Mail.
It is understood that Trump shut down the idea of the Vatican almost immediately, with one source describing it as ‘a non-starter.’
Greece, a sun-soaked vacation destination steeped in ancient history and democracy, was seen as a compromise.
Sources close to the President say Sergio Gor, the former director of the White House Presidential Personnel Office and a close ally of Guilfoyle and Don Jr, played a key role behind the scenes in pushing her for a diplomatic post.

Guilfoyle was not on his second-term transition team’s final shortlist to succeed former ambassador George Tsunis, until Gor ‘worked quickly’ to insert her name as an alternative. Gor is now Trump’s ambassador to India.
‘It came out of left field. There was no way they were going to give her the Vatican. It wouldn’t be a fit, for many reasons. She must have known that,’ one diplomatic source told the Daily Mail.
Guilfoyle is Catholic herself, but insiders feared her public persona and background would have raised eyebrows among Vatican officials.
The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Guilfoyle for comment.
