One of the first things that struck Lara Yunaska about Eric Trump, whom she would later marry, was his height. Meeting nearly 20 years ago through mutual friends, the couple instantly connected over this shared trait.

Lara Lea Trump, now 42, has written the foreword for her husband Eric Trump’s debut book and even took on the task of narrating the audiobook, as reported by the Daily Mail. Former President Donald Trump also contributed his own foreword, providing both written and audio versions. Titled “Under Siege: My Family’s Fight to Save Our Nation,” Eric Trump’s memoir was released on Tuesday.

An excerpt obtained by the Daily Mail reveals how Lara and Eric’s relationship began, with Lara recalling her initial impression of meeting someone taller than herself—an occurrence she found promising. “I noticed a very tall guy, and he noticed me,” she writes. “Standing at five foot eleven, I often reach six three in heels. But Eric, at six five, was even taller.” Lara humorously reflects, “My first thought was, this guy’s taller than me, even in heels. This might just work out.”

President Trump is 6’3′, and his first wife Ivana at 5’8′ was taller than the average woman. They had three tall children. The first was Donald Trump Jr. who is 6’1′, his daughter Ivanka was next and is 5’11’ and then his son Eric reached 6’5′. Tiffany, the daughter Trump shares with Marla Maples, is only 5’8′. However, the tallest of the Trumps came years later. Barron, 19, towers over the rest of the family at 6’9′. He was destined for altitude with 5’11’ former model and First Lady Melania Trump as his mother. With these heights, the Trumps dominate in not just personality as they are often the tallest in the room.

‘I never expected to even like Eric Trump, let alone love him,’ Lara Trump admitted in the foreword of her husband’s upcoming memoir. ‘But every day since we met, I’ve liked—and loved—him more (okay, on average, anyway!).’ ‘I didn’t anticipate he would be genuinely humble and caring and charming. Honestly, I never anticipated any of this wild ride we’ve been on, but here we are.’ The two met in 2008 when they were out with friends and began dating three months later.

At the time Eric was working for his father at the Trump Organization and Lara was a producer at the tabloid television program Inside Edition. Eric proposed to Lara in 2013 at the Trump Seven Springs estate in Bedford, New York exactly five years and two days after their first date. And six years after meeting they tied the knot in 2016 at Mar-a-Lago – shortly before Eric’s dad brought the entire family into the political spotlight.

In the first year of Trump’s first term in office, Lara had their first child, Luke, who was born in September 12, 2017. The couple had a daughter nearly two years later when Carolina was born in August 19, 2019. Eric Trump took over as executive vice president of the Trump Organization when his father was elected president and began running the family business with his brother Don Jr.

During the 2024 campaign, Lara took a much more prominent role in the political family. She was elected co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC) to help deliver GOP wins in the House and Senate while her father-in-law ran for a second, nonconsecutive term.

It was floated that Lara was considering running for office in either Florida – when former Sen. Marco Rubio was elevated to Secretary of State – or in her home state of North Carolina. Instead, when Lara stepped down from her RNC position after November’s victory, she joined Fox News Channel where she now hosts the Saturday evening talk show My View with lara Trump.
