In a rare foray into the political arena, First Lady Melania Trump has called for unity following a series of violent incidents in Minnesota, amid the President’s tough stance on immigration.

During a Tuesday appearance on Fox & Friends to promote her upcoming film, Melania expressed her opposition to violence, urging demonstrators to engage in peaceful protests. “If you protest, please do so peacefully,” she emphasized.

Originally from Slovenia, Melania mentioned that President Trump had a productive conversation with Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, both Democrats, just the day before.

“The President had a constructive call with the governor and the mayor yesterday,” she confirmed, adding that they are collaborating to restore peace and prevent further unrest.

Highlighting the need for unity, Melania stated, “In these times, we must come together.”

Her remarks underscore the profound public reaction following the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old VA nurse, by federal agents in Minneapolis on Saturday.

Video showed eight agents surrounding Pretti and tackling him to the ground. The nurse, who was carrying a licensed firearm, appeared to have been disarmed before he was shot ten times in less than five seconds.

Pretti’s killing came less than three weeks after Renee Good, a 37-year-old mother of three, was shot dead at another anti-ICE protest in the city. Good had been blocking a road with her vehicle and drove it into an agent when she was killed.

Trump rebuked Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s leadership on Monday as he announced that Border Czar Tom Homan will now lead the ICE operation in Minneapolis.

‘I am sending Tom Homan to Minnesota tonight,’ Trump wrote on Truth Social. ‘He has not been involved in that area, but knows and likes many of the people there. Tom is tough but fair, and will report directly to me.’

On Sunday, Noem referred to Pretti as a ‘domestic terrorist’ – a view Trump did not share.

‘I don’t like any shooting. I don’t like it,’ Trump told the Wall Street Journal.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Monday that she had ‘not heard the president characterize’ Pretti as a domestic terrorist.

The president grilled Noem and rumored lover and DHS special government employee Corey Lewandowski during a late-night White House meeting on Monday, according to a New York Times report.

By the end of the night, Noem was apparently ordered to shift her focus away from interior immigration enforcement and concentrate on securing the Southern Border while her rival Homan takes over the Minnesota crackdown.

Attorney General Pam Bondi’s deputy, Todd Blanche, pushed back when asked Monday whether he agrees with Noem’s claim that Pretti’s actions amounted to the legal definition of ‘domestic terrorism.’

‘Look, I don’t think anybody thinks that they were comparing what happened on Saturday to the legal definition of domestic terrorism,’ Blanche replied after trying to deflect the question by criticizing Minnesota’s Democratic leadership.

‘And you’re right — to the extent there’s body cam or other videos that witnesses are still providing to us. So I’m not describing it as anything except for a tragedy,’ he added.

A YouGov/Economist poll released January 13 in the wake of the shooting of Good – but before Pretti was killed – shows only 34 percent of Americans think ICE operations are making America more safe, and 47 percent think the mission is making the US more unsafe.

The issue is highly polarizing, with 77 percent of Republicans believing ICE is making the US safe and only 3 percent of Democrats feeling the same.
