In a dramatic turn within Republican circles, Congresswoman Nancy Mace has launched a campaign to have her fellow party member, Congressman Cory Mills, relieved of his duties, citing allegations of misconduct against women. This internal conflict has drawn significant attention as Mace, who is vying for the South Carolina governor’s seat in a fiercely contested primary, has been vocal about Mills’ alleged transgressions.
Mace has taken to social media, posting persistently about Mills, a Congressman from Florida, accusing him of a range of misdeeds. “When you’re accused of assaulting women, profiting off federal contracts from your congressional seat, and inflating your military record, you have no business shaping America’s defense policy,” Mace asserted in one of her numerous posts directed at Mills over the past day.
The controversies surrounding Mills are extensive. He faces allegations of domestic abuse, threats to release revenge porn involving an ex-girlfriend, and questions over the legitimacy of his Bronze Star award. Additionally, reports have emerged about his marriage conducted in a mosque by an individual allegedly connected to the 9/11 hijackers.
Mills, however, has been quick to refute these claims, suggesting they are politically charged. He clarified earlier this year that the Islamic marriage ceremony was a strategic decision to facilitate safe travel for his wife, who is originally from Iraq, to visit her family. In response to Mace’s accusations, Mills stated, “Congresswoman Nancy Mace’s latest stunt is a politically motivated attempt to grab headlines and settle personal scores,” as reported by the Daily Mail.
For his part, Mills has largely pushed back on the myriad allegations. He explained earlier this year that his reported marriage in an Islamic ceremony was to ensure that his wife, originally from Iraq, would be allowed to safely travel to the country to see her family.
‘Congresswoman Nancy Mace’s latest stunt is a politically motivated attempt to grab headlines and settle personal scores,’ Mills told the Daily Mail in a statement.
‘The claims on my valor that she’s pushing are baseless, recycled, and already publicly disproven. I fully deny them, just as I always have. This is not oversight, it’s attention-seeking dressed up as accountability.’
The statement did not include any mention of the other scandals plaguing the Florida lawmaker.
Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace introduced a resolution to punish her Florida colleague, Cory Mills Wednesday. She also reposted an image of a text conversation in which Mills allegedly tells his girlfriend ‘you will be a good girl and do anything he wants or asks’ in reference to someone named Chris

One of those scandals was highlighted by Mace after she re-posted a screenshot of steamy text messages Mills allegedly sent to his 28-year-old girlfriend while still married.
‘And you will be a good girl and do anything he wants or asks?’ one of the alleged messages from Mills to his girlfriend in a group chat titled ‘New Year’s Fun’ reads.
‘He can have you as many times as he wants, any way he wants, and finish anywhere he chooses right babe?’ Mills continues in the exchange, referring to another man.
Though Sarah Raviani, Mills’ girlfriend, strongly pushed back on exchange.
‘The messages being circulated are doctored and originated from an anonymous pro-Palestinian account,’ she texted the Daily Mail.
‘Cory’s legal team is already preparing a cease-and-desist for the individual behind the account, who is distributing unverified, manipulated material,’ she continued. ‘There is no authentic metadata supporting their claims.’
Raviani was also party to another of the congressman’s scandals.
In February, the D.C. Metropolitan Police responded to a domestic abuse call at Mills’ D.C. apartment.

Lindsey Langston, 25, the winner of Miss United States 2024, claimed in a July 14 sheriff’s report obtained by the Daily Mail that Mills has threatened to release nude videos of her
Raviani phoned the police after ‘(Her significant other for over a year) grabbed her, shoved her, and pushed her out of the door’ of his apartment, a copy of the initial incident report obtained by NBC claims.
Mills ‘vehemently denies’ the allegations of abuse, his office later said. Raviani also later told the Daily Mail that ‘no assault took place.’
On Wednesday, Mace introduced a censure resolution against Mills. The maneuver is the harshest penalty that can be lobbed at a sitting congressman short of expulsion.
The timing of Mace’s censure resolution is unclear, but the House will have to act on it within two legislative days, which could mean action on the floor as soon as Friday.
However, it is unclear whether or not there would be enough votes for the measure to pass.
If the resolution passes, Mills would be forced to stand in at the front of the House chamber while his infractions get read aloud into the congressional record in front of the 433 members of Congress.
But that’s not all, the South Carolina congresswoman is also advocating to have Mills removed from his committee assignments on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Armed Services Committee – a move that could significantly reel in the Floridian’s power on Capitol Hill.
Mace has even reportedly sent a letter to Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson calling for Mills to be punished.

The rift comes a day after Democrats initially pushed a motion to censure Mills but withdrew it after striking a deal with Republicans to avoid a counter-censure of liberal Delegate Stacey Plaskett of the Virgin Islands for her past communications with the late sex trafficker and pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
Though Wednesday’s gambit was not the first time Mace had tried to knife Mills.
In September, the South Carolinian threatened to censure her Florida colleague for voting against her petition to censure progressive ‘Squad’ member Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota for her insensitive remarks about Charlie Kirk shortly after his assassination.
Mace’s push has garnered some GOP support, too.
Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna of Florida, without mentioning Mills by name, said yesterday ‘a republican that’s having a lot of issues and should not seek re-election.’
‘Stop bulls****ing the American people and Florida residents,’ Luna posted about Mills on Wednesday. ‘Get your crap together, not in Congress.’
Congresswoman Lauren Boebert similarly vented her frustration at Mills on Tuesday by yelling at him on the House floor after Tuesday’s censure attempt against the Floridian failed.
The House Committee on Ethics announced on Wednesday that it is opening a probe into Mills’ behavior, potentially spelling further trouble for the congressman. The existence of an investigation does not on its own indicate wrongdoing, however.
Still, House leadership could step in to strike a deal to save Mills from the upcoming censure vote as they did with the Plaskett deal this week.
Though it remains to be seen if Speaker Johnson would want to.
