Report: Trump told cops everyone knew Epstein's crimes

Back in 2006, Donald Trump reportedly informed Palm Beach police about widespread awareness of Jeffrey Epstein’s illicit activities and urged them to concentrate their investigation on Ghislaine Maxwell, labeling her as ‘evil,’ as reported by the Miami Herald.

Among the 3.5 million Epstein-related documents recently released by the Justice Department is a four-page FBI memo detailing an October 2019 interview with an unnamed individual, as identified in the report.

The memo reveals that Trump allegedly recounted an incident where he hastily left a gathering upon noticing Epstein in the company of teenagers.

According to the Miami Herald, former Palm Beach police chief Michael Reiter claimed he was the individual who discussed the matter with the FBI in 2019, reflecting on his conversation with Trump during the initial Epstein investigation.

Reiter asserted that this discussion took place in July 2006, a significant time before Trump publicly denied any knowledge of Epstein’s criminal activities, the Herald reported.

‘Everyone knew he was disgusting’

The FBI memo indicates that Trump told the interviewee that Epstein was widely regarded as ‘disgusting’ by New Yorkers.

The interview subject also claimed that Trump was one of the first people to call the Palm Beach Police Department when the investigation into the financier became known.

‘Thank goodness you’re stopping him, everyone has known he’s been doing this,’ Trump said, according to the FBI memo.

Reached on Tuesday for independent confirmation of the identity of the redacted individual, a contact for the former Palm Beach Chief of Police told the Daily Mail: ‘Michael Reiter is not participating in interviews at this time.’

Reiter retired as police chief in 2009 but was at the helm during the investigation into Epstein’s child sexual trafficking crimes in the 2000s.

Epstein was facing a hefty rap sheet, but ultimately reached a highly controversial plea deal and in June 2008 was convicted on Florida state charges for soliciting prostitution from just one minor girl.

The White House declined to comment to the Daily Mail and referred any questions to the DOJ.

Justice department pushes back

And an official with the Justice Department denied that Trump ever called Reiter, sending a statement to the Daily Mail claiming: ‘We are not aware of any corroborating evidence that the President contacted law enforcement 20 years ago.’

The only mention of Maxwell in the four-page FBI memo was Trump claiming she was Epstein’s ‘operative,’ and telling the unnamed person who recounted the conversation ‘she is evil and to focus on her’.

The revelation of Maxwell’s further involvement comes on the heels of the 64-year-old disgraced British socialite pleading the fifth during a closed-door testimony before the House Oversight Committee on Monday.

Maxwell remains the only living person serving jail time in relation to Epstein’s sexual trafficking crimes.

She began serving her 20-year sentence in June 2022.

Trump and First Lady Melania associated with Epstein and Maxwell through the 1990s and early 2000s.

One Epstein files email shows a chummy message signed ‘Love Melania’ sent to a Maxwell email address, further highlighting the close-knit relationship of the two couples.

Trump apparently told Reiter in 2006 that he booted Epstein from Mar-a-Lago, according to the Herald’s report.

This would corroborate the president’s repeated claims that he kicked Epstein out of his club around 2007 for being a ‘creep.’

In July 2019, a month before Epstein’s shady prison death, Trump told reporters he had no knowledge of Epstein committing sexual crimes against young women.

‘No, I had no idea. I had no idea,’ Trump said at the time.

The report from the 2019 FBI interview, however, reveals that Trump may have known more about Epstein’s crimes than he let on previously.

Epstein reached a deal with Florida prosecutors in 2007 and pleaded guilty to soliciting [adult worker] from a minor and was handed down an 18-month prison sentence.

He served 13 of those months and was permitted to leave the facility six days a week for 12 hours on work release, which he spent in his office.

He began serving his sentence in June 2008 and was released on July 22, 2009.

Questions remain over how Epstein and his lawyers were able to limit the scope of his crimes to just one case involving a 16-year-old-girl when, at the time, they had nearly 40 underage victims.

‘It was very disappointing that the system failed in this case,’ the redacted interviewee told the FBI.

Report: Epstein was associated with a current top foreign government official

Jeffrey Epstein was associated with a current top foreign government official, lawmakers have revealed after viewing redacted files.

Representatives Thomas Massie, a Republican, and Ro Khanna, a Democrat, revealed during a Monday press conference that six men are likely incriminated in the files.

The bipartisan duo has spearheaded the release of the Epstein Files since last July and pushed for a vote on their Epstein Files Transparency Act, which was eventually signed into law by President Trump.

Despite the law, they are still fighting for transparency as the DOJ released more than 3 million Epstein files on January 30, but the majority of them were heavily redacted.

Massie, of Kentucky, told reporters the files included an individual who is ‘pretty high up in a foreign government’ and urged Donald Trump ‘s Justice Department to ‘correct their mistakes’.

One document posted by Massie contains 18 redactions, four of them being men born before 1970.

Monday marked the first time members of Congress could view the unredacted files by visiting a Department of Justice building in Northeast Washington, DC, in person and accessing them on the DOJ’s computers.

Representative Jamie Raskin, a Maryland Democrat, who also visited the DOJ office, said that the files contained several previously unreported young victims.

‘You read through these files, and you read about 15-year-old girls, 14-year-old girls, 10-year-old girls.’

‘I saw a mention of a 9-year-old girl today. I mean, this is just preposterous and scandalous,’ Raskin said.

In his reference to a 9-year-old girl, it is unclear if Raskin was citing an email that included a formatting error.

Epstein’s longtime girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell pleaded the Fifth and refused to answer questions over Jeffrey Epstein at a closed-door hearing on Capitol Hill.

The jailed British socialite appeared virtually before lawmakers on the House Oversight Committee for less than an hour on Monday.

Maxwell was deposed as part of the bipartisan congressional investigation into the Justice Department’s prosecution and handling of the Epstein case.
