During a recent flight aboard Air Force One, President Donald Trump found himself in a light-hearted moment, joking about needing support from his press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, to steady himself. The 79-year-old president was returning to Washington D.C. from Mar-a-Lago and engaging with reporters when he momentarily paused, humorously remarking on his struggle to maintain balance amid the bumpy ride.
The president, known for his off-the-cuff remarks, turned to Leavitt and jokingly insinuated that the reporters were to blame for his predicament. “I’m looking for something to grab here. Because it’s going to get rough. I think you did this to me, you put me in a position where there’s absolutely nothing to grab,” he quipped, before adding with a chuckle, “And it’s not going to be Karoline!”
Leavitt, maintaining her composure, smiled and assisted Trump by guiding his hand toward a nearby curtain for support. The press corps, accustomed to Trump’s playful nature, continued with their questions, focusing on pressing foreign policy issues rather than the president’s humorous aside. This isn’t the first time Trump has shared a light-hearted exchange involving Leavitt; last August, he made a quip about her speaking abilities, likening them to a “machine gun.”
Trump Praises Leavitt, Who Recently Announced Her Pregnancy
The President said, ‘She’s become a star. It’s that face. It’s that brain. It’s those lips, the way they move. They move like she’s a machine gun … She’s a star and she’s great.’ Leavitt, 28, recently announced she and her 60-year-old husband, Nicholas Riccio, are expecting their second child. The MAGA superstar has been one of Trump’s longest reigning press secretaries routinely earning the praise of her boss.
Trump Suggests Leavitt Will Stay for Rest of Second Term
Other Trump press secretaries, including Sean Spicer, have hard short-lived careers at the White House with their press briefings often marked by chaos. Leavitt, on other hand, appears to be going nowhere. In October, Trump implied that Leavitt would be staying in the White House for the full remainder of his second term. ‘How’s Karoline doing? Is she doing good?’ Trump asked reporters. ‘Should Karoline be replaced?’ Trump quickly replied, ‘It’ll never happen.’
