Trump issues chilling threat to Hamas as Gaza descends into bloody civil war: 'We will have no choice'

On Thursday, President Donald Trump delivered a sharp warning to Hamas amid reports that the Palestinian militant group has been executing its own people during a ceasefire with Israel.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump declared, “If Hamas persists in taking lives in Gaza, contrary to the agreement, we will be compelled to intervene and eliminate them. Thank you for addressing this issue!”

This escalation in Trump’s rhetoric comes after he initially played down concerns of a potential civil conflict in Gaza.

Following his whirlwind visits to Israel and Egypt earlier in the week, Trump had characterized Hamas’s actions as dealing with “a couple of very bad gangs,” suggesting it was not a major concern for him.

However, the narrative shifted as videos surfaced online, revealing what appeared to be public executions conducted by Hamas fighters.

Since then, videos have been shared online that show Hamas fighters participating in what appeared to be a public execution.

As part of Trump’s 20-point plan toward peace, Hamas members were to relinquish their weapons and give up power, something they’ve, so far, failed to do.

In turn, Hamas members who wished to leave Gaza would be given safe passage to another country.

Instead, Hamas fighters have been involved in violent clashes with rival Palestinian groups, as Israel’s forces have withdrawn.

During his Oval Office meeting Tuesday with Argentinian President Javier Milei, Trump warned Hamas that they needed to stick to the terms of the agreement.

‘They will disarm, and if they don’t do so, we will disarm them, and it’ll happen quickly and perhaps violently,’ Trump said.

He didn’t provide additional details on how he would accomplish that goal in Thursday’s Truth Social post.

The president told CNN Wednesday that he would greenlight Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu taking further military action in Gaza if Hamas doesn’t abide by the bargain.

The US has sent 200 troops to Israel to help support the ceasefire, but they aren’t being sent into Gaza.

Trump is already being widely heralded for bringing about the end of the Gaza war.

The conflict began in the aftermath of the October 7, 2023, terror attack on Israel that left at least 1,219 people dead.

Around 251 people were kidnapped in Israel by Hamas and brought into Gaza.

On Monday, as Trump was headed to Israel, the 20 remaining living hostages were brought back.

Since then, Hamas has returned the bodies of nine hostages to Israel, claiming that’s all the remains it can transfer back.

The bodies of 19 other Israeli hostages remain in Gaza.

Aid is also slowly making its way into war-ravaged Gaza, where approximately 67,000 Palestinian civilians have been killed since the start of the war.

White House advisers told reporters on a call Wednesday that ‘there’s no intention to have the aid cut, as long as this deal holds.’
