In a peculiar email he penned to himself months before his demise, Jeffrey Epstein rambled about former President Donald Trump, reflecting a paranoid state of mind. The discredited financier alleged that Trump was a frequent visitor to his Palm Beach residence, mentioning this in a February 2019 email. Epstein noted, ‘[REDACTED] worked at Mar-a-Lago. Trump was aware and visited my home many times during that period,’ adding that ‘He never got a massage.’ This was six months before Epstein was found dead at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan.
At the time, Epstein seemed to be unraveling as he faced fresh accusations of exploiting numerous girls, spurred by a revealing investigation from the Miami Herald in 2019. This investigation reignited scrutiny over a decade after his 2008 conviction for soliciting a minor. In his email, he appeared to minimize the impact on his victims, stating, ‘The girls returned multiple times. For 200 dollars for a massage. No sexual intercourse. Some worked in local massage parlors. Most were in their twenties.’ The exact purpose and context of Epstein’s self-addressed email remain unclear. The next day, he forwarded this correspondence to author Michael Wolff, who was working on a Trump exposé. Epstein added a cryptic note, ‘Have fun.’
This strange outburst followed closely on the heels of the Miami Herald’s explosive three-part series that uncovered over 60 women who accused Epstein of sexual abuse while they were minors. The Herald’s investigation highlighted how Epstein secured a plea deal in 2008 from then-U.S. Attorney Alexander Acosta, which allowed him to plead guilty to state prostitution charges, thereby sidestepping federal charges related to sex trafficking. The agreement also provided immunity to unnamed co-conspirators. Epstein concluded his email with a reference to an old property dispute in Florida with Trump from the early 2000s, shortly before their falling out.
Trump famously expelled the financier around October 2007, according to the Mar-a-Lago’s Club registry. The president has since revealed Epstein was ‘stealing’ young women who worked at his estate. The pressure from the Miami Herald’s story led to Epstein’s arrest in July 2019 on federal sexual-trafficking charges in New York. He died in a New York jail cell from an apparent [self-murder] one month later.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on Wednesday branded the email dump a politically motivated ‘smear’ campaign and repeated Giuffre’s former statements about Trump in which she absolved him of any wrongdoing. ‘The Democrats selectively leaked emails to the liberal media to create a fake narrative to smear President Trump,’ Leavitt said in a statement.
‘The “unnamed victim” referenced in these emails is the late Virginia Giuffre, who repeatedly said President Trump was not involved in any wrongdoing whatsoever and “couldn’t have been friendlier” to her in their limited interactions.’ Giuffre, who committed [self-murder] earlier this year, was recruited by Maxwell while employed as a spa attendant at the Mar-a-Lago Club in 2000. She was 16 years old.
