Seemingly, there’s nothing new on Netflix’s NFLX Top 10 list this morning. Despite the wave of new shows that were added to the streaming platform’s database, Ratched continues its stronghold over the #1 position on Netflix’s Top 10 list for shows. Viewers have continued to eat up Sarah Paulson’s biting performance as Nurse Ratched—the infamous character from One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.
But, as it turns out, Ratched has actually accomplished an increasingly rare feat with its #1 showing—a feat that only three other shows have achieved this year on Netflix.
Inarguably three of Netflix’s biggest shows in 2020—Tiger King, The Umbrella Academy and 13 Reasons Why—all spent an incredible 13 consecutive days atop the Daily Top 10 rankings. While eight shows in total have achieved double-digit streaks this year, only four of them have reached the milestone of 13 days.
And now Ratched is one of those shows.
Here are the ten longest #1 streaks we’ve seen on Netflix this year:
- Tiger King – 27 days
- The Umbrella Academy – 15 days
- 13 Reasons Why – 14 days
- Ratched – 13 days
- Away – 12 days (tie)
- Unsolved Mysteries – 12 days (tie)
- Floor is Lava – 12 days (tie)
- Dead to Me – 10 days
- Cobra Kai – 9 days
- Space Force – 7 days (tie)
- Lucifer – 7 days (tie)
As you can see, reaching double digits isn’t easy—and pushing past the 12-day mark is even harder. Despite both Cobra Kai and Away’s immense popularity this month, neither of those shows was able to control Netflix quite as long as Ratched has been able to this month.
On the 2020 rankings, those three other shows that have reached a streak of at least 13 days rank very highly. 13 Reasons Why sits the lowest of the three in 12th place, followed by The Umbrella Academy in fifth place and Tiger King in first place.
Currently on the 2020 rankings, Ratched ranks in 28th place—which means there’s still lots of room for the show to rise before the end of the year.
Ratched premiered in the #1 position back on September 18. Since then, several other shows—including Jurassic Park: Camp Cretaceous, The Good Place and CoComelon—have ranked highly on the Top 10 Shows list. But none of them have been able to overthrow Ryan Murphy’s latest thriller, which accumulated enough points in just 13 days to finish in fourth place on the September Top 10 list.
Here are those monthly rankings. The points are accrued according to a system we formed based on the Daily Top 10 rankings:
- Cobra Kai – 241 points
- Away – 187 points
- CoComelon – 155 points
- Ratched – 130 points
- Jurassic Park: Camp Cretaceous – 112 points
- Sister, Sister – 88 points
- Get Organized with The Home Edit – 79 points
- Lucifer – 77 points
- The Blacklist – 69 points
- Chef’s Table – 54 points
