Kate

Kate debuted her swoon-worthy red Needle & Thread dress at a Buckingham Palace reception in January 2020, before bringing it back for the trailer of the 2022 Together At Christmas carol service.

The original dress is still available to buy – I recently tested it out – but if it exceeds your budget, this sequinned option from Next delivers the same festive brilliance for far less.

Zara

Zara Tindall memorably opted for a Veronica Beard velvet trouser suit for the 2024 Together at Christmas carol concert – a look she revisited at the 2025 Legends Ball.

Burgundy velvet tailoring is enjoying a major resurgence on the high street right now, and my top pick is Reiss’ refined take on the trend, complete with sleek side stripes that elevate the classic silhouette. It’s perfect for anyone who isn’t a fan of dresses.

Meghan

While promoting her As Ever Christmas special, the Duchess of Sussex stepped out in several standout looks – one highlight being a chic khaki co-ord from New York label Argent.

If you’re hoping to channel Meghan’s effortlessly polished aesthetic, Reformation’s glamorous two-piece set is the perfect alternative.

Sophie

Sophie has twice chosen her glittering silver Erdem gown – once for the 2022 Royal Variety Performance and again at a 2023 reception in Canada – and it’s easy to see why.

The voluminous long sleeves, cinched waist and full skirt create an elegant silhouette that feels timeless. A similar look from Phase Eight offers the same graceful charm.

Church service

Sophie

Sophie turned to her new favourite label, Lexy London, for a winter-ready look at this year’s carol service. She chose the Deborah dress – a longline shirt silhouette decorated with floral and paisley motifs.

For a similar aesthetic, Boden’s version captures the same effortless style and pairs beautifully with knee-high boots.

Beatrice

British brand Beulah remains a staple in Princess Beatrice’s wardrobe. She owns at least ten of their dresses, including four variations of the flattering Ahana style.

She showcased a striking tartan iteration at the 2023 Christmas carol service at Westminster Abbey. A refreshed version is now available in Beulah’s current collection – or you can echo the look with Aspiga’s contemporary take.

Kate

Kate’s tartan skirt collection is well loved, with her Emilia Wickstead design proving a particular favourite, worn on four occasions so far. The high waist, soft pleats and midi length give it a timeless quality – no wonder it returns year after year.

Keen to recreate the look for less? Boden offers an excellent alternative.

Family dinner

Eugenie

Princess Eugenie recently crowned the statement skirt as this season’s must-have piece when she stepped out at a London dinner in a bold design by Spanish label Philippa 1970.

The skirt, which is still available to buy, strikes the perfect balance between polished and playful, proving how a hero piece can transform an entire outfit. For a more affordable alternative, Karen Millen’s jacquard floral knit delivers the same standout appeal.

Sophie

Knitted dresses are a winter staple, and Sophie owns the perfect example by Reiss. With its roll neck, mid-length hemline and understated colourway, the original has since sold out – but an updated version looks almost identical.

On a tighter budget? Mango offers a stylish lookalike that captures the same cosy aesthetic.

Diana

Ever since Princess Diana stepped out in her now-iconic sheep jumper by British brand Warm & Wonderful, the high street has embraced the quirky knit trend.

This season, Joules offers several playful takes, including its classic red ‘What The Flock’ style – instantly reminiscent of Diana’s.

Winter walk

Kate

Kate’s beloved Barbour jacket has been a wardrobe staple since 2012, and it remains one of her most iconic off-duty pieces.

Barbour’s latest iteration – crafted from heavier-weight waxed cotton and finished with a warm tartan lining –  is currently available to shop and makes an ideal companion for chilly days.

Prefer a more budget-friendly option? M&S offers a waxed cotton jacket in a rich olive green, complete with practical patch pockets.

Sophie

Attending the Together at Christmas carol service, Sophie braved the winter chill in a sold-out Alaïa coat, championing this season’s biggest colour trend: burgundy.

John Lewis’ sophisticated alternative mirrors the wide lapels, double-breasted front and longline silhouette, making it a flawless homage to her look.

Zara

Zara’s chic yet practical waterproof coat from Musto x Fairfax & Favor is ideal for wet and windy countryside walks.

If you’re looking for a more affordable option, Regatta’s hooded waterproof raincoat delivers similar protection without the higher price tag.

Finishing touches

Bag

Loved by both the Princess of Wales and Zara Tindall, Aspinal’s vintage-inspired Midi Mayfair handbag has firmly cemented its status as a modern classic.

This season, the new Merlot Croc edition is particularly irresistible. However, if you prefer something more budget-conscious, Dune’s belted grab bag delivers a polished feel without the designer price tag.

Boots

Sophie recently stepped out in a pair of Penelope Chilvers boots that perfectly balance style and practicality, thanks to their comfortable mid-heel and versatile neutral shade.

For a more affordable take on the look, Oasis has a chic alternative that captures the same easy elegance for a fraction of the cost.

Perfume

Kate Middleton is believed to be a fan of Jo Malone London’s Orange Blossom Cologne, a delicate floral fragrance with warm undertones.

If you’re looking for something similar at a more accessible price point, The Body Shop’s eau de parfum offers a great budget-friendly alternative.
