Henley Royal Regatta is the most prestigious rowing event in the world – the crown jewel of both the summer sporting calendar and the UK’s social season.

Attracting over 300,000 visitors each year, it hosts more than 400 races across six days of elite competition.

The event also boasts a long-standing royal connection, having been granted the title ‘Royal’ in 1851 when Prince Albert became its first royal patron. Since then, every reigning monarch has upheld this tradition.

The Regatta has also welcomed numerous royal visitors over the years, including the Princess Royal in 2010.

Style is a key part of the experience, with two main enclosures offering differing dress codes.

In the exclusive Stewards’ Enclosure, a formal dress code is in place: women are expected to wear dresses or skirts below the knee, tailored jackets with trousers or trouser suits. While not mandatory, hats are typically worn.

The Regatta Enclosure offers a more relaxed atmosphere, where attendees often embrace classic nautical looks, summer tailoring and elegant dresses.

With this in mind, I’ve pulled together six outfits that are stylish, event-appropriate and guaranteed to turn heads – whatever your personal taste.

Outfit one

This fashion-forward ensemble features a striking burnt orange jumpsuit from Reiss. The cinched waist and dramatic wide leg create a flattering silhouette, enhanced by the sporty side stripe.

Rich chocolate and gold accessories add a refined, polished finish.

Outfit two

Channel timeless nautical style with this striped shirt dress from Crew Clothing – a nod to their official partnership with the Henley Royal Regatta.

I’ve styled it with a minimal straw bag, classic boater hat and tan knot-detail sandals to keep the look fresh and on-theme.

Outfit three

Polka dots are a perennial summer favourite, and this Sézane dress offers an elegant spin with its square neckline and skimming fit.

I’ve paired it with complementary heels, a playful visor and a colour pop bag for a touch of vibrance.

Outfit four

This tonal look is built around Jigsaw’s powder pink collarless linen suit, currently on sale.

Burgundy accessories from Mango add depth and contrast, while a chic floral headband from Karen Millen finishes the outfit with a modern twist.

Outfit five

Effortless and easy to wear, this look is perfect for those who are short on time. The Boden dress features an elaborate blue and white floral print, supportive wide straps and a flattering tie waist.

Comfortable espadrille wedges, a mini basket bag and bucket hat complete the laid-back vibe.

Outfit six

Take a cue from the Princess of Wales and wear a single colour from head to toe.

I’ve chosen a sophisticated puff sleeve midi dress from Phase Eight, paired with Tabitha Simmons x Next slingbacks and a wide-brimmed hat from John Lewis for added drama. I couldn’t resist the ME+EM bag – the pearl handle detail is stunning.
