How Kate Middleton's sister Pippa forged her own style VERY different from the Princess's

Though Pippa Middleton first rose to fame as Kate Middleton’s younger sister, she has carved out a style of her own.

Pippa Middleton first captured the public’s attention at the 2011 royal wedding of Kate and Prince William in a stunning, form-fitting bridesmaid dress. Over the years, her fashion sense has evolved from a classic Sloaney style to a more refined and sophisticated elegance.

Today, she is known for her mastery of classic, effortless dressing – favouring longer hemlines and timeless, form-flattering silhouettes.

Reflecting on Pippa’s ascent in the fashion world, brand and culture expert Nick Ede shares insights: “In the early 2010s, she made a memorable entrance with items like tailored blazers, skinny jeans, and sleek dresses. However, more recently, her wardrobe has taken on a versatile and mature appeal.”

Whether she’s choosing vibrant florals or chic, tailored mini skirts ideal for the summer season, Pippa’s fashion choices exude a refined but accessible charm. Nick comments, “She skillfully balances an inviting simplicity with high-end details.”

Unlike Kate’s wardrobe, which is rich in tradition, symbolism, and royal conventions, Pippa’s style is refreshing: modern, spontaneous, and distinctly her own.

‘She’s not constrained by role, and that freedom allows her style to feel relatable, aspirational, and entirely her own,’ Nick adds.

As she celebrates her birthday, we look back at some of Pippa’s most memorable looks.

Trackside style

Pippa turned heads with her stylish ensemble at the Formula 1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone in July, showcasing her mastery of summer fashion.

Her outfit featured a sophisticated blend of tan and cream shades, highlighted by the Sezane ‘Zig’ jacket made of buttery soft suede, layered over the elegant Usisi Sister ‘Alexa’ dress.

She accessorised with the Emmy London bag, Castaner’s cult-favourite espadrilles, and her go-to Finlay & Co sunglasses.

Floral flair

At the 2024 Wimbledon Championships, Pippa eschewed her trademark midi dresses in favour of a striking Claire Mischevani jumpsuit.

The one-piece featured flared legs and voluminous sleeves finished with frilled cuffs, creating a dramatic silhouette.

Its colourful floral print offered a refreshing alternative to her usual dress choices. She rounded off the look with her signature raffia clutch and classic espadrilles, epitomising summer style.

Pretty petals

Attending the Men’s Singles Final, Pippa radiated elegance in a floral Beulah dress she has owned since 2021.

Pippa debuted the ‘Peony Teaberry’ design at her brother James’ wedding to Alizee Thevenet, and its return was a welcome reminder of her timeless taste.

With it’s classic print and feminine silhouette, it’s no surprise this dress has become a staple in her wardrobe.

Finishing the look with a nude Emmy London clutch and sleek Chanel sunglasses, Pippa delivered a perfectly polished ensemble.

The look featured a collarless jacket tied with a chic black bow, worn over a mock-neck jumper for added warmth.

She completed the ensemble with a velvet clutch and classic Emmy London court shoes, perfectly complementing the suit’s black accents.

Lace luxe

Pippa embraced the seasonal spirit once again at the Heart Hero Awards in December 2023.

She opted for a deep green Self-Portrait Guipure Lace Midi Dress, a label also loved by her sister, the Princess of Wales.

Adding a bold pop of colour, she paired the look with scarlet heels and a matching clutch, creating a welcome contrast.
