Even after stepping down from her role as a senior royal in 2020, Meghan Markle seems to still hold onto certain aspects of her former life within The Firm.

Since relocating to California with her husband Harry, where they no longer serve as representatives of the British monarchy, Meghan appears to keep a subtle connection to the royal family occasionally. This is evident through what might be symbolic gestures using floral designs and jewelry.

Recently, she offered a rare view inside the $14 million home she shares with Prince Harry and their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, in Montecito.

The mother-of-three took to her Instagram account on September 26 to show off what appeared to be her cosy living room.

In a story shared with her 4.2 million followers, the mother of two displayed a sophisticated floral display and her beagle, Mia, lounging on an elegant cream armchair accompanied by a matching cushioned footstool.

The eye-catching flowers were placed in a white stone vase, embellished with the logo from Meghan’s lifestyle brand, As Ever.

Nonetheless, PEOPLE magazine disclosed that the item is a custom piece crafted specifically for her Netflix series titled ‘With Love, Meghan,’ and there are no current plans for an official new homeware line.

To date, Meghan’s brand range includes jams, wines, teas, and other gourmet offerings, but she has previously suggested that she may branch out into home goods and fashion in the future.

In April, Meghan suggested to Inc magazine following her first As Ever launch that her brand could expand into other areas, saying: ‘I hope that people see that reflected in whatever it is that I’m creating and putting out there… It’s just an extension of me.’

This subtle hint to a potential new range wasn’t the only hidden detail in Meghan’s clip – she also included a royal nod.

The garden roses in her As Ever vase, which was placed on a chic side table next to the armchair, were arranged with Queen Anne’s lace, the mother-of-two revealed.

She wrote in a caption on her Story: ‘Delphinium, Nigella, Veronica – meet As ever. With garden roses and Queen Anne’s lace (and a very sleepy Mia). Looking lovely, ladies,’ she said, referring to her flowers.

The Duchess’s cosy living room also included a brown and cream $2,000 Hermès throw.

Her royal nod with the Queen Anne’s lace came just days after she was spotted wearing a piece of jewellery with its own very regal name.

Meghan was sighted sporting what was thought to be a very glamorous birthday present from Prince Harry – a ring which she opted to wear on her right hand, during a surprise joint appearance with her husband at Kevin Costner’s starry gathering in Santa Barbara on September 21.

It is believed to be the £3,185 ‘Queen’ Water Drop Moonstone Ring with Full Pavé Diamond Halo, from brand Logan Hollowell was potentially gifted by Harry just in time for Meghan’s 44th, on August 4.

The former senior royal also made another royal nod when sharing an image of some flowers in her California home, describing the arrangement as 'Delphinium, Nigella, Veronica [...] with garden roses and Queen Anne's lace'

The ring comes in three sizes – Micro Queen, Baby Queen and Classic Queen, and it is understood that Meghan was wearing the latter, which is the biggest.

According to the product description, the central ‘moonstone’ is said to ‘bring good fortune, bring success in love as well as business matters’.

And in what may have been a touching, subtle tribute to the Duke’s late mother, it added: ‘The moonstone is associated with the moon and was the stone of the goddess Diana. The most powerful time to use the moonstone is in a full moon.’

The ring features 14k gold and the pear shaped gem surrounded by a halo of white diamonds totaling 0.25 carat weight – and is available in yellow, rose, or white gold.

Logan Hollowell boasts a chic brand of handcrafted jewellery made in Los Angeles, using ’14k and 18k recycled gold, ethically sourced gemstones, and conflict-free diamonds from around the world’.

According to its website, ‘artisan goldsmiths create each piece with handpicked gemstones based on the intuition, feeling, and passion Logan draws from the natural beauty of the stone’. It was not the only piece of jewellery sported by Meghan: in total, it is estimated that she wore more than £237,000 worth of gems as she attended the event.

On her left hand, the former senior royal sported Princess Diana’s Cartier Tank Française watch, worth £17,800 ($24,020), which was gifted to her after she married Prince Harry.

She stacked this on top of her 18-carat gold Cartier Love bracelet which retails for around £7,050 ($9,513). The bracelet’s screw motif symbolises eternal love, with a unique closure that locks around the wrist, representing lasting commitment.

Meghan was also seen wearing her £2,370 ($3,197) Jennifer Meyer mini bezel tennis bracelet, which is handcrafted from polished 18-carat yellow gold and was designed by Tobey Maguire’s ex-wife.

Elsewhere, there was a sizeable jewel glistening on the former actress’ finger. This is her £120,000 ($161,922) engagement ring which Prince Harry used to propose to her in 2017, a year before they married.

He designed a bespoke engagement ring, featuring a cushion-cut diamond from Botswana, symbolising their first holiday together. The ring also included two smaller round diamonds from Princess Diana’s personal collection, ensuring his late mother’s presence in their journey.

Initially crafted by Cleave & Company, Queen Elizabeth’s trusted jeweller, the ring featured a simple gold band and was valued at around £120,000.

However, less than two years later, Harry commissioned Lorraine Schwartz to resize and reset the ring with a new diamond band, which Meghan first wore at Trooping the Colour in 2019.

Meghan stacked this on top of her £10,000 ($13,493) wedding band, which was crafted from Welsh gold and was gifted to her from the late Queen, as in keeping with royal tradition.

Meghan was also seen donning her eternity ring, which retails for £80,000 ($107,947), and first caught the eye of royal watchers when she first wore it in 2019.

Placed alongside her wedding band and engagement ring, the eternity ring holds deep personal meaning as it was a gift from Harry to mark their first wedding anniversary.

Meghan made what could have been another nod to the royals earlier this year when seen donning an accessory traditionally seen on men while attending the Invictus Games – and it could have been a subtle nod to Princess Diana.

She sported a gold signet ring engraved with the couple’s royal cypher, a nod to their connection to the monarchy despite their departure from royal duties.

Thought to have been made by royal warrant-holding British jewellers Bentley & Skinner, the piece features a cursive H and M, which are topped with a coronet with two cross pattées, four fleurs-de-lys and two strawberry leaves.

The couple’s royal monogram was designed following their marriage in 2018 and was used on their previous Sussex Royal website and social media accounts.

Meghan’s choice to flaunt the royal cypher sent a statement – despite stepping back from royal duties, the ring embodies a sense of regal identity, even though the Sussexes have stepped away from The Firm.

Her decision to wear the piece prominently could have been interpreted as Meghan’s way of signalling that she is still a member of the Royal Family, and proudly so. Or as a not-so-subtle way of showing that she will use her royal title if she wants to.

An earlier sartorial nod the mother-of-two made to her husband’s royal heritage came when the couple took their pseudo royal tour to Nigeria in May 2024, and Meghan wore a sleeveless peach maxi dress from Californian designer Heidi Merrick – called the Windsor gown.

Meghan’s mannerisms also harked back to her royal endeavours as she spoke to children and took selfies with young kids at the school visit.  Speaking to FEMAIL at the time, communications pro Judi James explained that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex seem to have ‘fallen back into the non-verbal habits and status signals of the earliest days of Meghan’s life as a royal here’.
