Prince Harry is expected to miss his son’s sixth birthday to attend an event in Las Vegas.

It will be the second time the royal hasn’t been present on the special day after he skipped the festivities to attend the coronation of his father, King Charles, in 2023.

The Duke of Sussex is set to launch a new initiative in collaboration with The Diana Award in the Nevada city on May 6, the same day as Archie’s celebration.

The Diana Award’s Pledge to Invest initiative aims to put a spotlight on the future of youth leadership and how forward-thinking businesses can support it.

During his trip Harry will also meet two young recipients of The Legacy Award, a prize given to exceptional recipients in memory of Diana, Princess of Wales, while Archie enjoys his birthday at home with Meghan in Montecito.

The royal is expected to take part in a panel discussion with Sikander ‘Sonny’ Khan, from Michigan in the US, and Christina Williams, from Jamaica, as well as Paul Fipps, of Service Now, at the Knowledge 2025 event.

The award, set up in memory of his late mother, honours exceptional social action and humanitarian work.

Tessy Ojo, chief executive of The Diana Award, said: ‘Companies that invest in youth leadership today are cultivating the workforce, innovators and consumers of tomorrow.

‘The Diana Award is proud to launch Pledge To Invest – an opportunity for forward-thinking businesses to make a strategic, measurable and high-impact investment in the future of youth leadership.

‘For over 25 years, The Diana Award has invested in young people, empowering them to tackle the pressing issues of our time.’

Mr Fipps said he is ‘proud to partner with Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, and The Diana Award to provide a platform that encourages other business leaders to invest in young people’.

The city was famously the destination of Harry’s raucous road trip in 2012.

The escapade ended with photos of the naked prince, who was frolicking with a woman in his hotel room after a game of strip billiards, being splashed on front pages of newspapers around the world and on celebrity gossip websites.

Harry later wrote in his autobiography Spare, that he had berated himself for the controversy, saying: ‘How had I let it happen? How had I been so stupid?’

News of the royal’s upcoming trip comes just days after Meghan Markle posted adorable unseen photographs of her ‘little loves’ Archie and Lilibet picking flowers.

The Duchess of Sussex, 43, took to Instagram to show her two children helping her select pink roses from a bush, alongside the caption: ‘Sunday kind of love….with my little loves.’

Princess Lilibet could be seen with her hair down and wearing a pink top, while Prince Archie wore a navy blue, long-sleeved shirt.

Meanwhile Lilibet’s adorable American accent was heard for the first time as the three-year-old gave her one-word verdict on her mother’s jam last weekend.

Meghan posted a video on Instagram in which she can be heard asking Lilibet what she thinks of her strawberry jam while preparing a fresh batch of the sweet treat.

‘It’s beautiful,’ the toddler gushed, as her Californian accent shone through.
