Lord Ivar Mountbatten appears to be following in Prince Harry’s footsteps, as he’s chosen to publicly criticize his family.

At 62, Lord Ivar, renowned for being the first among the extended Royal Family to be part of a same-sex marriage since 2018, has made a surprising revelation. He has openly admitted his dislike for his mother, the Marchioness of Milford Haven, accusing her of being ‘lazy’.

The attack is made even more striking by the fact that she is 87 and increasingly frail.

‘My mother never looked after us at all,’ declares Lord Ivar, who won The Traitors US.

‘We were brought up by this German nanny and we were always shipped off here and there, and that was fine.

‘I’m not complaining, yet what bothered George [his brother] and I was her reluctance to be part of family gatherings. When our children were younger, we’d often invite her for Christmas or weekends.’

‘Her typical response was saying she “couldn’t be bothered,” mainly because she found packing a suitcase to be a hassle since she never learned how to.’

He adds on the Rosebud Podcast: ‘There’s no affection between my mother and I. She’s been bedridden since 2018 and its purely laziness.

‘So that sort of irritated my brother and myself. We’ve ended up having to do everything for her.’

Lord Ivar is married to James Coyle, an air cabin services director. ‘During the pandemic we thought we ought to bring her from London because she had a string of carers and clearly was going to get it [Covid],’ Lord Ivar says. ‘[We] brought her furniture down and she actually accused James of stealing her TV.’

He joined the Royal Family on parade at Sandringham last Christmas.

And now Princess Beatrice’s stepson Christopher has been invited to a Scottish holiday at Balmoral.

I can disclose the nine-year-old, who’s known as ‘Wolfie’, is visiting the private Aberdeenshire retreat with Bea, 37, and his father Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, 41.

‘He will enjoy a wonderful holiday of outdoor activities such as wild swimming and cycling,’ a family friend tells me. He’s already been abroad with his mother, Dara Huang, a US-born architect and TV presenter.

Wayne Sleep recalls introducing his boyfriend Jose Bergara to the late Princess Margaret shortly after the Spanish bar owner flew to Britain to be with the ballet dancer.

Sleep, 77, says: ‘I tried to buy him some slip-on shoes but he wouldn’t take off his Doc Marten boots. I said, “I’m so sorry, Ma’am”, but the princess replied, “Don’t worry, I did this dance once with a man in spurs and he ruined the parquet flooring”.’

Anna’s brutal trip to seaside

After being chosen to succeed Mishal Husain on Radio 4’s Today programme earlier this year, could Anna Foster also be a shoo-in for a sacrificial role in a remake of Hitchcock’s classic The Birds?

For the 45-year-old shared details yesterday of how she’d been ‘brutally attacked’ by a seagull while enjoying a carefree day along the coast.

‘It flew into the back of my head,’ said Foster, responding to comments by colleague Jonny Diamond about the seaside birds pinching chips in Scarborough and making off with ‘a steaming pastie’ in Birmingham.

Foster’s ice cream had been ‘knocked to the ground’ by the attack. ‘It was horrible,’ she added. ‘I will never stop talking about it.’

Comedian Max Fosh was surprised to find himself playing football with royalty while staying with friends who live near Sandringham. ‘I walked into a dressing room and there was Prince William and Prince Harry donning their socks,’ Harrow-educated Fosh tells Tatler. ‘Harry was a naturally better footballer. William was on my team. He said I had “a wand of a left foot”. Harry was my opposite man, defending [against] me, and at one point he accused me of being offside. I didn’t really know what to say, so I just kind of shrugged.’

Aged 62, Mariella Frostrup is determined to prove there’s no need for women to give up wearing bikinis.

The broadcaster posted a joyful beach photo of herself looking age-defyingly toned in a tiny black two-piece alongside her friend, Fiona Howden, wife of insurance tycoon David Howden.

‘The pure unadulterated joy of finding an equally reckless mature bikini wearer on the beach,’ says Mariella, who has two children with human rights lawyer Jason McCue.

Mariella has previously vowed never to hang up her bikinis in favour of a one-piece swimsuit.

She said: ‘They say, “If you’ve got it, flaunt it”, and my retort is, “Hell, even if you haven’t, flaunt it anyway”.’

Citizenship woes for Spencer Matthews

He’s already told of how he views himself as an honorary Irishman after marrying Vogue Williams.

But it seems Made In Chelsea star Spencer Matthews’s attempts to convince authorities in the Emerald Isle to give him citizenship have hit a brick wall. For his wife has revealed that while their three children have been granted the status, Spencer, 37, has not.

Model Vogue, 39, said: ‘I like to take the kids home as much as I can – I want them to have friends in Ireland, so that they always want to go back. They got the free Irish passports. They wouldn’t give Spenny one and he was raging.’
