Footy fans are becoming deeply concerned about the health of AFL legend Warwick Capper following a series of troubling videos.
At 62, Capper is facing memory issues and a decline in mental function, which both he and his partner believe stem from the repeated head injuries he endured during his football career.
Although he hasn’t been formally diagnosed with dementia, his symptoms—such as forgetting names, narrating the same stories repeatedly, and poor scores on cognitive assessments—align with chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), a condition associated with brain injury.
Cameo is an application allowing fans to pay celebrities for personalized video messages, and football enthusiasts have been using it to have Capper send birthday greetings to their friends.
In the videos, Capper is slurring his words so badly the auto-caption software cannot understand him for long stretches.

Concerns have arisen among fans after troubling videos show Warwick Capper having difficulty with speech and concentration while recording personalized messages.

Once known for his flamboyance, Warwick Capper now appears frail in recent videos, raising concerns about his well-being

The AFL legend is pictured with Charlie Sheen. The pair filmed an ad for Ultra Tune
In one video, Capper appears to be lying down at home and is speaking with a wheezy, raspy voice.
He claims to have had eight hours sleep in three days from celebrating the Brownlow Medal and the AFL Grand Final.
Capper had been commissioned by a fan named Scott to wish a happy birthday to his friend Timmy, who was turning 30.
The former Sydney and Brisbane Bears star could barely get his words out, and was struggling to keep one of his eyes open.
He then starts rattling off almost incoherent statistics that he says cement his position as the best player in the game.
Capper then lurches into a story about a rare wine he acquired, his Baldwin home, and the 2020 Ultra Tune commercial he did with Pamela Anderson.
He concludes the video by describing how he won several Holden Commodores for taking the mark of the week, then traded them in for his Lamborghini.
Capper delivers a message to a man named Mick from the driver’s seat of his Lamborghini in another clip.

While some commenters found the footy great’s wild Cameo videos funny, others want him to seek urgent help

Capper’s long-term manager admitted his recent behaviour is frightening, stressing the man fans see today is not the real Warwick

‘We love you but you need some help mate, you’re not well,’ one footy fan told the 62-year-old former Swans star
While Capper seems a bit more alert and less raspy, he immediately launches into a series of vulgar and homophobic statements.
He is clearly struggling for breath, threatening to go to Mick’s bucks party, wedding and funeral.
‘Your birthday is on the 10th of seven ninety four,’ Capper says.
‘That’s when my son was born, that means you’re 30, you old prick.’
He wraps it up with another self-serving monologue before dropping a vulgar grandmother joke and signing off.
The final video, filmed in a living room, is for a fan named Frankie, who Capper says is ’60 but looks like he is 75′.
‘I’m 62 but look 41, good plastic surgeon,’ he continues.
He quickly starts ranting about Colombia and Pablo Escobar while struggling with his breathing.
Capper then rips into the Sydney Swans’ losing record in recent years in Grand Finals and more boasting.
Some footy fans loved every minute of it – others were more worried about his health, especially in light of his recent suspected CTE symptoms.
‘Wiz we love you but you need some help mate, you’re not well,’ one posted.
Another added: ‘He will drop dead the way he’s going he looks so bad.’
‘Sad to watch mate, if your mates are watching give him help check in on him,’ yet another urged.
‘Wiz, you need to get onto a mental health plan and fix yourself up. Getting worse and sad to see,’ one commenter wrote.
His long-time manager, Peter Jess, has previously called on the AFL to support further testing, like an MEG scan, to pinpoint the reason for Capper’s recent symptoms and to help facilitate suitable treatment.
‘This is not the real Warwick,’ Jess said.
‘It’s f***ing frightening.’
