Aston Villa have reportedly agreed the biggest shirt sponsorship deal in the club’s history with the Greek online betting platform Betano.

The two-year agreement is worth £20million annually and will come into effect next season with their new Adidas kit deal.

As per Telegraph Sport, it is understood that the deal is worth more than double that of their current one with Chinese betting firm BK8.

Adidas will be replacing Castore, who received major criticism for the club’s ‘wet-look’ kit this term.

The agreement, reportedly overseen by Villa owner Nassef Sawiris, who also owns close to seven per cent of Adidas, will be a long-term agreement worth millions.

The club are making a clear effort to drive commercial revenue and ease FFP concerns going forward

But the side will only be able to work with Betano as a major partner for the next two seasons, before the Premier League’s ban on front-of-shirt gambling sponsors comes into effect for the 2026/27 season. 

Villa are in the midst of their best season in modern times and currently sit fourth in the Premier League.

Their success on the pitch is being reflected by improved commercial deals and the Villains will no doubt want to push on this summer.

The club announced losses of £119.6m for the year ending May 31, 2023.

However, they are confident that they will comply with regulations with annual revenue increasing from £178.4 million from the previous financial year to £217.7m.
