While Atletico Madrid secured the signing of Nico Gonzalez from Juventus during the transfer deadline day, he wasn’t the only fresh face joining the ranks at the club.
The same day Atleti and Nike unveiled their new third kit for the 2025/26 season – a striking design that fuses nostalgia with a modern twist.
The club’s latest kit draws inspiration from Nike’s legendary Total 90 designs from the early 2000s, updated with a modern twist. The jersey is predominantly bright blue, a shade usually seen in Atleti’s away or alternate kits, and is accented with the team’s classic red and white, giving the vintage design a renewed look.
Following the trend of other recent Total 90 revivals, the Swoosh and the team crest are positioned prominently in the center of the jersey, a style not used in Atletico kits since the 2005/06 season. For the men’s team, Riyadh Air is the main sponsor, displayed in clean white lettering across the chest, while the women’s team wears a similar design featuring Herbalife as their sponsor.
Atletico Madrid is famed for their resilience and defensive prowess, but this new kit pays homage to a different aspect of football – the early-2000s street style, where creativity and flair were celebrated just as much as the physical aspects of the game.
With Gonzalez anticipated to make his debut in this striking jersey, it might signify the start of a fresh era at the Metropolitano, blending both style and success.
