Bayern Munich’s new sporting director Max Eberl says the club have made a “very concrete, appreciative offer” to Alphonso Davies as they bid to tie him down to a new long-term contract.

Davies’ Bayern contract has just one more year to run and an extension is not a formality amid longstanding interest from La Liga leaders Real Madrid.

Recent reports in Germany revealed that Bayern and Davies were some way apart in regards to a new contract, with the Canadian’s €20m per season wage demands thought to be considerably higher than what the Bavarian giants are prepared to offer.

Despite that, fellow Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund recently said “conversations are good and open” between the two parties and that Davies “feels very comfortable in Munich,”, though that suggested confidence is yet to materialise into an agreement.

And Eberl has now communicated to SPORT Bild that Bayern have “made Alphonso a very concrete, appreciative offer,” – believed to be in the region of €13m to €14m per season until 2029 – and that “at some point in life you have to say yes or no.”

He also added that “Real Madrid hasn’t contacted us”, suggesting the ball remains in Davies’ court over what to do next.

The report reiterates that Bayern have been ‘clear’ and are not prepared to increase their offer to Davies – essentially forcing Real Madrid to come up with the goods if they are to lure him away from the Bundesliga.

A transfer fee of around €60m has been mooted should Davies decide against staying – a sale would then be likely to ensure Bayern do not risk losing him on a free transfer in 2025 – but it’s been claimed in Spain that Madrid are only prepared to spend €40m.

90min revealed in November that Davies is happy enough at Bayern, but only if his ever-increasing standing in the club’s squad is reflected in his remuneration. Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain have kept close to his situation, but it’s Madrid who are his most likely destination as the 14-time Champions League winners look to upgrade on their current options.
