Just two days before the start of their season, Minnesota United seem to have found the man to lead them as head coach.

32-year-old Eric Ramsay, an assistant at Manchester United, is set to leave Old Trafford to become the next head coach of the Loons in Major League Soccer, according to The Athletic.

He’ll become the youngest coach in the league by a gap of seven years. The next-youngest coach is Nick Cushing of NYCFC, aged 39.

He won’t be leaving the Red Devils until after they’ve played Manchester City on March 3.

By that time, Minnesota will have opened their season on the road against Austin FC and played their first game at home against the reigning MLS Cup champions, the Columbus Crew.

Ramsay has worked with a number of Manchester United managers – including Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick before taking a larger role within Erik ten Hag’s staff.

He’s also been an assistant coach with the Wales national team, where manager Rob Page called him ‘arguably one of the best young coaches in football at this moment in time.’

In recent times, Ramsay was approached by Blackpool and Swansea City for their coaching jobs but he stayed in Manchester.
