US men’s national team and AC Milan figure Christian Pulisic has been named 2023 US Soccer Male Player of the Year.

It’s Pulisic’s fourth time being named the Male Player of the Year for his nation and the first time since 2021 as Tyler Adams won the voters over in 2022. Pulisic collected the award for the first time in 2017, before claiming the same honors again in 2019 and 2021.

The award for the 25-year-old comes after he’s enjoyed a stellar first-half of the season with Milan after transferring from Premier League giants Chelsea.

He was unable to find the back of the net for Chelsea in the 2023 calendar year, but still managed to rise to the occasion with the Stars and Stripes, notching six goals and three assists which led the team as they took home the 2023 Concacaf Nations League title.

His 2023 with Milan couldn’t have gone any better, as he scored seven goals and added three assists in all competitions for the Rossoneri.

“It’s an honor to win this award again for the fourth time. It was an incredible season for me. I always enjoy playing with the National Team and winning more trophies with the National Team. Of course, coming here to AC Milan, it’s been just a really exciting year. I’ve enjoyed it so much, so I’m really grateful to win an award like this,” Pulisic said in a US Soccer release.

“Any of the nominees could have won it, and not even just those guys, names outside of that as well who have been putting in such strong performances on the club level and with the National Team. I’m really proud of how far this group has come and looking forward to some really big events coming up in the next years.”

Only the legendary Landon Donovan has won the Male Player of the Year award, which puts Pulisic in good company.

Pulisic is set for a busy 2024 as Milan look to solidify their place near the top of the Serie A standings while Copa America 2024 is also on the horizon for the Hershey, Pennsylvania native.
