Eddie McGuire has expressed his grief over the loss of TV personality Duncan McKenzie-McHarg, referring to him as a cherished “sunny, optimistic friend” following his passing in Los Angeles.

McKenzie-McHarg, known for his work with Channel Nine, Triple M, and Stan as a sports reporter, tragically died after falling from a building in Downtown LA, as confirmed by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.

Reports indicate that his body was discovered on a rooftop.

McGuire shared, “To all who knew the bright, cheerful, and uniquely joyful spirit of Duncan McKenzie-McHarg, this news comes as a profound shock and heartache.”

“His ability to transform his naturally happy and kind nature into a talent that charmed even the most famous personalities, and to build an international career from the ground up, earned him the admiration of his longtime friends,” McGuire continued.

“Our heartfelt sympathies go out to Duncan’s family and friends. His loss is deeply felt by us all.”

McKenzie-McHarg previously said he was inspired to become a sports presenter after watching his idol McGuire present on TV. 

‘I loved how the reporters on TV got to talk about sport, almost in a performative way,’ he told Radio Today in 2023.

‘Eddie was so quick and versatile,’ he continued. 

‘Funny, but could also deliver serious news.’

Stan also paid tribute to McKenzie-McHarg.

‘We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Duncan McKenzie-McHarg. Duncan was a valued contributor to Stan Sport, and our thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues at this very difficult time,’ a Stan spokesperson said.

After moving on from Triple M, the talented reporter worked as a presenter for both Channel Seven and Channel Ten, before becoming the US correspondent for Fox Sports Australia in 2017, remaining with them until May 2022.

In August 2022, he accepted his dream role as a Los Angeles-based sports presenter with Stan, a role he remained in until his tragic passing. 

Some of the A-listers he worked with include Australian tennis star Todd Woodbridge and US athlete Madison Keys. 

During his time in the role, he interviewed many world-famous stars including Shaquille O’Neal, Tom Brady, Tiger Woods, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.

His sudden passing has left a profound sense of loss within both the Australian and US sports communities. 

He was renowned for his enthusiastic and engaging presenting style, through which he developed a rapport with some of the world’s most renowned athletes. 

Fans have taken to social media to pay tribute to Duncan.

‘RIP Duncan. We all love you so much,’ one heartbroken fan wrote.
