Manchester United have the chance for redemption in the FA Cup this season, but they will need to navigate a tricky quarter-final against rivals Liverpool this Sunday.

The Red Devils seemed to have turned a corner at the beginning of the new year, but their performances have been questionable once again in recent weeks. They have lost two of their last four games and their record at Old Trafford leaves a lot to be desired.

However, the good news for United is that they are likely to welcome back a few key players from the treatment table for Liverpool’s visit, although they will head into the clash as underdogs regardless.

Here are the United players out of action for the match-up with Liverpool.

Luke Shaw

Erik ten Hag is still without several key defenders for Liverpool’s visit, including left-backs Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia. The duo could be out for the remainder of the campaign, leaving Victor Lindelof to deal with Mohamed Salah on Sunday afternoon.

Jonny Evans has picked up a niggle to miss out and Lisandro Martinez‘s rotten luck with injuries this season keeps the Argentine on the sidelines with a knee issue sustained against West Ham at the beginning of February. The centre-back could return shortly after the international break.

Harry Maguire should be back for Man Utd this weekend, which is positive news for Ten Hag, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka is also likely to return against Liverpool having been missing since the end of January.

Andre Onana will start in goal for United, with Altay Bayindir confirmed to be absent by Ten Hag in his pre-match press conference.

Mason Mount

Ten Hag has everyone in his midfield available to him, with summer signing Mason Mount getting closer to a return after several months on the treatment table.

The Englishman has been out of action since November with a calf injury, but has actually been included in the matchday squad for the FA Cup quarter-final. However, he’s unlikely to be fit enough to start.

Anthony Martial

Man Utd supporters will be relieved to hear that Rasmus Hojlund should be available for Sunday’s match, with the Red Devils having struggled to create chances without him.

However, they are still without Anthony Martial following his groin surgery, with the French forward unlikely to return until early April.

Youngster Omari Forson is also missing after picking up a knock before last weekend’s victory over Everton and will not get the chance to face Liverpool for the first time.
