Gameweek 25 is set to create the biggest debate around FPL captaincy so far this season, with favourable doubles for both Manchester City and Liverpool bringing the Triple Captain chip into play.

Both the Reds and the Cityzens face Brentford in the double gameweek, with Erling Haaland and Darwin Nunez among the top candidates to back with the armband over two matches.

With the help of Fantasy Football Hub’s powerful AI Points Predictions tool, here are the top captain picks for FPL Gameweek 25.

Erling Haaland

Not only is Erling Haaland once again the go-to captain pick after returning from injury, he also has plenty of managers weighing up whether to use the Triple Captain chip after his impressive brace against Everton last time out.

Those goals took the Norwegian up to 22 attacking returns from 17 starts this season and the numbers point to a very healthy return for his owners in Gameweek 25.

Haaland is on a huge 17.2 predicted points for fixtures against Chelsea and Brentford. He scored a combined 21 points in the reverse fixtures and provides another vital route to points as City’s penalty taker.

Darwin Nunez

Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez is also in the captaincy conversation, with the pick of the fixtures away at Brentford and home to Luton. He has the recent form, with three goals and one assist in the last four gameweeks.

The appeal of Nunez is the strength of his underlying numbers where he sits top for both shots in the last four gameweeks with 20 and big chances with six. He gets plenty of opportunities to hit the target and some clinical finishing could return a monster haul.

Ivan Toney

A differential in the captaincy conversation is Brentford’s Ivan Toney, who could prosper despite challenging fixtures for the Bees.

While the England international is yet to score against Liverpool in his career, he did bag a brace the last time he visited the Etihad in 2022.

Toney has been in fine form since returning to Premier League action following a long-term ban. He has amassed four goal involvements in four starts, playing every single minute of action.
