The FPL Gameweek 31 captaincy choice is an open one once again, with form players continuing to outshine Erling Haaland.

After struggling in Manchester City’s Premier League title clash with Arsenal on Sunday, the Norwegian striker faces another tricky fixture in midweek. So who should we be considering for the armband?

In conjunction with Fantasy Football Hub’s powerful AI Points Predictions tool, here are the top captain picks and their predicted points totals for FPL Gameweek 31.

Erling Haaland

Erling Haaland remains top of AI’s predicted points rankings for Gameweek 31 despite failing to score in consecutive matches. While their title rivals face promoted sides, Man City entertain Aston Villa who sit one place and five points behind them in the table.

Haaland has had four big chances on goal in the last four gameweeks, scoring just once. He registered an attacking return home and away against Villa last season, but they are one of just three sides to have defeated City in the league this campaign.

Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah had an outrageous 12 shots on goal against Brighton last time out and was unlucky to come away with just one goal and seven fantasy points, having had three big chances on Sunday. However, these numbers show huge potential for a big haul in the near future.

Up next are bottom of the table Sheffield United, who have let in the most goals of any side this season with 77. The Blades have conceded five spot-kicks this campaign – just five teams have given away more – and their recent 6-0 defeat to Arsenal demonstrates the appeal of this fixture.

Heung-Min Son

Tottenham midfielder Son Heung-min remains one of the form players in FPL right now, with three goals and two assists in the last four gameweeks at an average of nine points per match.

He is still playing as Spurs’ central striker and may fancy his chances against West Ham. The Hammers have conceded a leading nine penalties this season and have failed to keep a clean sheet this calendar year, conceding eight goals in their last four games.
