Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes says he is ‘perfectly aware’ of the struggles that the team face this season.

United have struggled to gain momentum so far, losing 11 times already in the Premier League and dropping to sixth place, while they were eliminated in the group stage of the Champions League.

Fernandes has addressed these performances as of late, claiming he is wary of the issues that trouble the team.

“At Manchester United it hasn’t been a successful season individually,” he said at a press conference.

“I am perfectly aware that I have the capacity to do more and better always. I am not worried about that at the moment, because what I always say is that my commitment and dedication is always at it’s maximum, regardless of whether I represent Portugal or Manchester United.

“That’s why I am calm about it and I know that the quality of my performances can always improve.”

This season, Fernandes has made 38 appearances across all competitions for United, registering eight goals and nine assists in that time. He was forced to play as an emergency centre-back in United’s dramatic 4-3 win against Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday, dropping back alongside Harry Maguire in extra-time.

For now, his attention focuses to international duty with Portugal, where he is set to feature in friendlies against Sweden and Slovenia. Fernandes and United return to Premier League action on March 30 with a trip to west London to face Brentford.
