Barcelona have released incredible new images of their iconic Camp Nou stadium, as it undergoes a £1.3bn renovation.

After winning the LaLiga title in June 2023, the Catalan giants started work on their world-famous stadium, to take out the pitch and seats.

Computer-generated photos envisaging the final design were presented to the public at an architects’ conference on Monday.

Barcelona will expand the capacity of the Nou Camp to 105,000 seats, as well as renovating the interiors, adding escalators, and upgrading the press room.

There will also be a roof for the first time, the largest one to be constructed in Europe.

Concrete and steel from their old stadium will be reused in the new construction project, aiding the sustainability level of Camp Nou, as well as bringing a part of Barcelona’s illustrious past with them into the future.

While the project was slated to finish in time for the 2025-26 season, there is some confidence in the Barcelona camp that they may get to their new home before the end of 2024, using two-thirds of the capacity, before opening up the full arena next year.

The club’s website declared that they wanted the work ‘to become an architectural benchmark for the city and for the world’.

Espai Barca aims to become the largest sports and entertainment space in the middle of a major city in Europe, to boost tourism away from home matchdays.

They were selling patches of grass from the old Nou Camp as small souvenirs, available to fans with prices starting from €49.99 (£43).

Barcelona are playing their home matches at the city’s 54,000 capacity Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys until their new stadium is ready to welcome them back.

The Catalan giants, who have had well documented financial problems in recent years, are set to earn an extra £25m a year when the stadium is completed.
