Jack Grealish has urged Manchester City to be more ruthless with their chances and admitted he must be more clinical in front of goal himself.

The Premier League champions eased to a comfortable 3-0 win over Young Boys on Tuesday night at the Etihad to secure their place in the knockout stages of the Champions League.

City were utterly dominant, but Grealish felt they were uncharacteristically profligate in front of goal. 

The England international set up Phil Foden’s opener on Tuesday night but is yet to open his account for the season and acknowledged he needed to improve his return in front of goal.

‘I need to start scoring more goals. I know what I bring to the team aside from goals and assists,’ he explained.

‘Every attacking player wants to score more goals.’

Grealish has had a frustrating start to the season after missing a month due and his place in the starting XI has come under threat from Jeremy Doku.

The Belgian has made a blistering start to his City career, limiting Grealish to just three starts in his nine Premier League appearances so far.

Grealish started the 3-0 win in the Manchester derby, but was back on the bench at the weekend as Doku opened the scoring in the 6-1 thrashing of Bournemouth and set up four more goals.

Guardiola, however, has no doubt he will get back to his best.

‘Jack is back,’ the Spaniard said earlier this week. 

‘The way he played at Old Trafford, to give us more composure and more powers in that position, it was decisive for us.

‘We need everyone. There are a lot of games and everyone has to compete.

‘As much as Jeremy and Jack perform, and I can play both at the same time, but when they don’t, train better the next day because the moment is coming, and when you are mentally there in the head you will perform well.

‘Then we will win games and you will be happy and everyone will be happy. This is what we have to do.’

Meanwhile, Guardiola warned City to keep their focus on winning their Champions League group after securing a spot in the Round-of-16.

‘Two games left,’ he said.

‘RB Leipzig are the toughest opponents in this group and we have to try and finish further. It is important in the last 16 to have the weapon of second game at home rather than away.’
