Jordan Pickford insists Everton do not fear any team, with the Toffees having won five of their last seven Premier League games including the home scalps of Chelsea and Newcastle.

The England goalkeeper said: ‘I wouldn’t say it’s a case of high confidence, we just know we are going in the right direction.

‘We are not overconfident, we are staying level and know when we go out there to train, we are ready to give it our best and whatever the manager and his staff put on.

‘You can see the togetherness is there. People are helping each other and working hard.

‘I don’t know if it will be a good or bad time to play them (Manchester City).

‘We fully respect them, but can also take our chances when we get opportunities and get after them.

‘There are a lot of different ways we can play now.’

Regular midfielders Abdoulaye Doucoure and Idrissa Gana Gueye will be missing for the visit of the Treble winners, but fellow injured players Ashley Young and captain Seamus Coleman are pushing to return to the squad.
