After escaping with three points amid a barrage of refereeing controversies against Almeria last weekend, Real Madrid travel to the Canary Islands on Saturday to face Las Palmas.
Madrid certainly weren’t totally deserving of the victory against bottom-of-the-table Almeria, but a late Dani Carvajal winner ensured they prevailed 3-2 after falling 2-0 behind.
Such results, despite the help they received from the referee, suggest Madrid are destined for La Liga’s crown.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side have a tricky game on Saturday, though, with Las Palmas emerging as one of the stories of the season so far. Garcia Pimienta’s distinct style has led the Canary Islanders to eighth in La Liga after they earned promotion from the second tier last season.
Here’s 90min’s preview of Real Madrid’s upcoming La Liga clash.

Las Palmas predicted lineup vs Real Madrid (4-3-3): Valles; Suarez, Coco, Marmol, Cardona; Munoz, Perrone, Rodriguez; Munir, Sandro, Moleiro.
Real Madrid confirmed lineup vs Las Palmas (4-3-1-2): Lunin; Carvajal, Rudiger, Nacho, Garcia; Camavinga, Kroos, Ceballos; Brahim; Rodrygo, Vinicius.
There are few teams like Las Palmas, and Madrid could come unstuck on the island if they produce similar performance to their last two outings. Madrid typically endure malaises in January, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if karma struck this weekend following last weekend’s controversy.
Las Palmas aim to condense the pitch and are particularly awkward to play against on home soil. Madrid obviously boast the game-breakers to stroll to victory, but the hosts could battle hard for a point.
