Title rivals Liverpool and Manchester City meet in Gameweek 28 on Sunday in undoubtedly the biggest game of the Premier League season so far.

Anfield will play host to what promises to be an incredible match between the English top-flight’s top two heading into the weekend, with just one point separating them before kick-off.

Both sides are in superb form and have welcomed players back from injury recently, though more so the Cityzens than the Reds. With in-form attackers, strong defences and animated coaches on the touchline, it promises to be an incredible spectacle with some intriguing battles up and down the pitch.

Here’s 90min’s preview of Liverpool vs Man City.

Alisson is still out injured for Liverpool, so understudy Caoimhin Kelleher will remain in goal.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is also sidelined, leaving Jurgen Klopp to decide whether to play young Conor Bradley or go with the more conservative choice of Joe Gomez.

Wataru Endo is fit and firing and should be back from the start, likely alongside Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister. Mohamed Salah also appeared as a substitute in Thursday night’s thrashing of Sparta Prague in the Europa League and is expected to flank Darwin Nunez in attack alongside Luis Diaz on his return to the starting XI.

The likes of Joel Matip, Diogo Jota, Curtis Jones, Ryan Gravenberch, Stefan Bajcetic and Thiago are all absent.

Liverpool predicted lineup vs Man City (4-3-3): Kelleher; Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Szoboszlai, Endo, Mac Allister; Salah, Nunez, Diaz.

Erling Haaland

Pep Guardiola has had less to worry about recently from a fitness perspective, with almost all of his players available. Jack Grealish is his only absentee due to a muscle problem, but his form wouldn’t have warranted him a start anyway.

Jeremy Doku will take that spot on the left flank despite missing the recent Copenhagen match, while the double pivot of John Stones and Rodri is expected to play with a back three behind them, allowing City a little more stability.

Erling Haaland will lead the line up front with four great attackers behind him.

Man City predicted lineup vs Liverpool (3-2-4-1): Ederson; Walker, Dias, Ake; Stones, Rodri; Foden, Silva, De Bruyne, Doku; Haaland.

Fans all around the world will be tuning into this match expecting goals. Both sides are free-scoring when the mood takes them and there has been a certain level of chaos to Liverpool this season which suggests this meeting on Sunday should be fun.

The onus is on Man City to win as they are a point behind their hosts and it’s also likely Arsenal will have leapfrogged them both the day before when they face Brentford.

There is no real logic to either team playing for a draw and the title showdown could instead end in a high-scoring tie.
