Manchester United have confirmed young midfielder Hannibal Mejbri has joined La Liga side Sevilla on loan for the remainder of the season.

Hannibal, who dropped out of Tunisia’s Africa Cup of Nations squad to secure his next move in club football, had been interesting Premier League side Everton before deciding on a switch to Spain.

It is understood there is an option to make the loan a permanent deal, with BBC Sport believing it to be worth £17.2m.

Hannibal has made ten appearances in all competitions for Man Utd so far this season, last being involved in their 2-0 win over Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup third round. However, he was not involved in the matchday squad for the 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

The Athletic add the Red Devils have included a fixed buy-back clause as well as a sell-on clause for the 20-year-old.
