Kris Boyd, along with fellow New York Jets players Jamien Sherwood and Irvin Charles, was involved in a shooting incident during a night out in Manhattan, it has emerged.
The Jets cornerback is currently hospitalized in critical yet stable condition following the shooting outside Sei Less, a well-known Asian-fusion restaurant in New York City, around 2 a.m. on Sunday. According to NBC News on Monday, a bullet remains lodged in his lung.
The startling event occurred near West 38th Street and Seventh Avenue, sparked by a verbal altercation that escalated to gunfire, with two shots discharged. Authorities are still searching for the shooter.
Reports suggest that the tensions began when one group mocked their stylish attire, causing unease within the venue. As Boyd, Sherwood, and Charles exited just after 2 a.m., a confrontation erupted on the street, culminating in Boyd being shot in the abdomen.
Video footage captured by Leeroy Johnson shows the police attending to the 29-year-old as he lay on the ground. Officers were later seen providing first aid before Boyd was placed on a stretcher and transported to an ambulance.
