Tino Livramento insisted he will not rush any decision over his international allegiance after Scotland talked up the idea of poaching the Newcastle defender.

Steve Clarke’s assistant John Carver confirmed that Livramento is on their radar, while former full back Alan Hutton claimed his country are ‘looking at’ convincing the ex-Southampton academy graduate to switch away from England.

Livramento, also eligible for Portugal, has linked up with England’s Under 21s ahead of two European Championship qualifiers, starting in Serbia on Saturday.

‘I’ve not seen anything and I’m sure if it was something serious my agent would’ve let me know.

‘I really do enjoy coming away with the team. We’ve a great manager (Lee Carsley) who stayed in contact with me when I was injured to make sure that I was in a good place.

‘I have a lot of respect and love for the England setup because I’ve been through every age group here.’

Newcastle spent £32million on the full back in the summer after almost a year out with an anterior cruciate ligament injury and Livramento believes he now understands his body properly.

‘You get games where you don’t feel 100 per cent but I know with the big injury that I had whether something’s serious or it’s something I can play on,’ he added.

‘The move was a tough decision, don’t get me wrong. Anyone in my position, to have that opportunity, would do what I’ve done.

‘It’s a new experience, not only a new club but a new part of England all the way up north. It’s been exciting.

‘There are a lot of fans you see when you go out for a coffee but they’re always respectful, nice and kind. It feels like a family up there, everyone loves you.’
