Neymar turned heads in a striking pink and white outfit, highlighted by a luxurious £4,300 coat, as he enjoyed a weekend getaway in New York City on Saturday.

The 33-year-old football icon was seen navigating Times Square alongside his model girlfriend, Bruna Biancardi. Attempting to blend into the bustling crowd, Neymar donned a ski mask, hoping to keep a low profile.

However, even with his face concealed, it was the Brazilian star’s vibrant attire that captured the attention of onlookers in the bustling streets of the city that never sleeps.

Among their activities, the pair soaked in the holiday spirit by listening to festive Christmas tunes while taking a rickshaw ride through the lively heart of Times Square.

This visit to the United States comes as Neymar gears up for knee surgery, a crucial step in his quest to join Carlo Ancelotti’s World Cup squad next summer.

In recent years, the former Barcelona and PSG forward has been dogged by injuries, having missed an astonishing 89 matches since his 2023 transition to Al-Hilal.

His fairy-tale return to Santos has also been hampered by fitness problems, with the veteran missing a large portion of this season as the club fought at the wrong end of the Brasileiro Serie A.

But the star ultimately stepped up when it mattered, rolling back the years with a hat-trick on the penultimate day of the season against Juventude to help keep Santos in the top-flight.

Speaking afterwards, Neymar admitted that he was playing through discomfort after suffering the knee injury.

‘I came for this,’ he said. ‘To try to help in the best way I can. These have been tough weeks for me.

‘I thank those who were with me to lift me up. If it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t have played these matches because of this knee problem.’

It’s understood the forward will visit ‘miracle doctor’ Eduardo Santos before Christmas to fast-track his recovery ahead of the World Cup.

The doctor is renowned for helping footballers recover from major injuries and has previously treated the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Matheus Cunha.

Neymar is likely to undergo surgery before Christmas back in Brazil, giving the winger – who is set to become a free agent – around six months to prepare for World Cup selection.

He’s the country’s all-time top scorer, having overtaken Pele in September 2023. He has bagged 79 goals in 128 games for the national team but has, thus far, not been part of Ancelotti’s new-look plans.

The Brazil boss spoke about the winger’s absence from his selections last week, but was defiant as he warned he does not ‘owe anyone a debt’.

‘We talk about Neymar, we have to talk about other players,’ Ancelotti said. ‘We have to think about Brazil, which can be with Neymar or without Neymar, with other players or without other players.

‘The definitive list we will make after the FIFA date in March. I understand very well that they are very interested in Neymar, I want to clarify that we are in December, the World Cup is in June, I will choose the team that will go to the World Cup in May.

‘If Neymar deserves to be, if he is well, better than someone else, he will play in the World Cup. I don’t owe anyone a debt.’
