Nottingham Forest reportedly terminated the contract of Jonjo Shelvey, contrary to their previous statement that they had let the midfielder go out on loan.
In a post from September, the club claimed: ‘Jonjo Shelvey has completed a season-long loan move to Turkish Super Lig side Caykur Rizespor.’
The Guardian though have reported that the post was deleted by the club last month and that Shelvey’s move was in fact a permanent one.
It’s claimed that he was originally due to join the club on loan before they realised that it would have meant them exceeding the number of players they are permitted to have out on loan.

Jonjo Shelvey’s contract at Nottingham Forest was reportedly terminated despite the club’s statement in September that he had been loaned out

Shelvey (right) was said to have completed a season-long loan move to Turkish Super Lig side Caykur Rizespor, though reports now suggest that he is no longer contracted to Forest
FIFA rules state a club can loan out a maximum of seven players at any one time and was introduced as a way to stop teams hoarding players and also to encourage the development of youth products.
It’s said upon realising they would have exceeded the limit on players who have been loaned out, they instead rescinded Shelvey’s contract.
Mail Sport has approached Nottingham Forest for comment.
Meanwhile, the club are at risk of a potential points deduction if they are found to have breached the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules.
Forest will find out later this month if charges are to be brought against them.
In a statement they said: ‘The club has fully complied with its reporting obligations in respect of the Premier League’s revised profit and sustainability rules.
‘Promotion to the Premier League will always create challenges, and the treatment of promotion bonuses is just one such example. The club approaches all such challenges with its long-term financial sustainability firmly in mind, as the Premier League rules intended.’

Shelvey only signed for Forest during the January transfer window of last season
Shelvey made just eight appearances for Forest having joined from Newcastle a year ago this month.
The 31-year-old has played 13 times for Caykur Rizespor, who sit seventh in the Super Lig, and his only goal for them was a memorable one as it came from the half-way line in 1-0 win against Istanbulspor.
