Scotland concluded a successful Euro 2024 qualifying campaign with an all-action 3-3 draw with Norway at Hampden Park.

Steve Clarke’s men fell behind in the third minute of a roller-coaster first half when Aron Donnum fired the visitors ahead before Scotland captain John McGinn levelled from the spot 10 minutes later.

Norway restored their lead through striker Jorgen Larsen in the 20th minute before an own goal in the 33rd minute by visiting defender Leo Ostigard had the Scots level again.

Looked to have been bullied in the build up to the first goal on an often uncomfortable evening. Could it be that moving to play his football in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ettifaq has been detrimental to his competitiveness?

SCOTT MCKENNA 6

The Nottingham Forest defender has not played a minute for his club since a 1-1 draw against Burnley. But Clarke has kept faith in the big centre half. He had his hands full covering as Norway targeted the left side of Scotland’s defence.

GREG TAYLOR 6

Celtic left back given a turn at left back in the absence of Kieran Tierney and Andy Robertson. But Norway time and again target the left back area on the break and Taylor was posted missing at Larsen’s goal.

SCOTT MCTOMINAY 6.5

The Scotland talisman was unable to make it eight goals in eight qualification games. The midfielder had a quiet game by his own standards but his dangerous corner was eventually put through his own goal by Ostigard.

Callum McGregor put in his usual excellent shift in the middle of midfield for Scotland

CALLUM MCGREGOR 7.5

The Celtic captain put in his usual excellent shift in the middle of midfield alongside McTominay. It was his ferocious shot from the edge of the box that earned Scotland a penalty scored by McGinn to make it 1-1.

STUART ARMSTRONG 7

The Southampton man had a very quiet first half up until the moment he sent a fierce drive just past Egil Selvick’s right hand post. Confidence flying, he fired a lovely 59th minute goal from the edge of the box.

JOHN MCGINN 7.5

Caught by Kris Ajer just outside the box and Romanian referee Horatiu Fesnic rightly said no penalty. But when Scotland did get a spot kick the Aston Villa captain made no mistake. The 29-year-old was the best player on the pitch.

KENNY MCLEAN 6

The veteran midfielder is a virtual certainty to be in Germany and he had an unspectacular night. But he did play a part in the second goal, meeting McTominay’s corner with his head before Ostigard diverted it into his own net.

JACOB BROWN 6

The Luton Town forward was handed his first start for Scotland but he failed to make an impact. Will be frustrated not to make a stronger case to be going to Germany before being replaced by Dykes
