Michael Owen believes PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino will be eyeing a job in the Premier League after his side’s dramatic capitulation which saw them crash out of the Champions League on Wednesday night.
The Parisians looked to be heading for the quarter-finals as they led 2-0 on aggregate at half-time, but a 17-minute hat-trick from Real Madrid‘s Karim Benzema turned the tie on its head and saw the Spanish giants progress.
Pochettino is now facing the sack, with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi furious at the Bernabeu collapse, but ex-Madrid and Liverpool forward Owen says former Spurs boss Pochettino will return to England anyway. The Argentine has been heavily linked with the Man United job.

Pochettino’s PSG side capitulated dramatically and crashed out of the Champions League
Speaking to BT Sport after the defeat, Owen said: ‘What happens to the rest of them (as well as Pochettino). To be honest, I don’t think he will mind. I think he’s probably got his eyes set on a Premier League team anyway.
‘But he was out of work, it’s an unbelievable job to try to do something like that, he’s going to win the league probably, but he will go the same way as all the rest of them. If a big job comes up in England I’m sure he’s got his finger prints all over it.’
Owen also described the PSG side as ‘unmanageable’, with their history of signing star players for big money not correlating to success in Europe.
Not even a fearsome front three of Kylian Mbappe – who scored both of PSG’s goals in the tie but has been heavily linked with a summer move to Madrid – Neymar and Lionel Messi could rescue the Ligue 1 side.

Ex-Madrid striker Owen also described the PSG side full of world superstars as ‘unmanageable’
‘Some teams are unmanageable I think and some dressing rooms are just so powerful that they will always just run themselves,’ Owen explained.
‘Real Madrid you could say over the years has basically ran itself, in the Galactico era there was that many big players, managers would come and go.
‘This Paris Saint-Germain team, they’ve had the likes of Tuchel, who has gone on to prove what a good manager he is, but it is very difficult to tell someone like Lionel Messi to work even harder off the ball.’
Pochettino took over at PSG in December 2020 but has been linked with the Man United job
Pochettino took over at PSG in December 2020, having been out of work for over a year, but missed out on the Ligue 1 title last year to Lille.
He has been heavily linked with the job at Old Trafford, which is set to become available this summer when interim boss Ralf Rangnick leaves his role.
Ajax manager Erik ten Hag is the other frontrunner for the hotseat at Old Trafford.
