The Peter Bosz Derby gets underway on Tuesday night as PSV Eindhoven host Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie.

Bosz endured a pretty miserable 167-day spell in charge of the Bundesliga club in 2017, but has found himself once more in Eindhoven.

PSV are flying domestically and remain unbeaten in Eredivisie. However, they could only finish behind Arsenal in Group B which set up a last 16 clash with Group F winners Dortmund.

The German side impressively won the toughest group of the bunch despite their domestic troubles this term. While Dortmund sit fourth in the Bundesliga, questions have continued to arise regarding Edin Terzic’s long-term future at the club.

Here’s 90min’s preview of Tuesday’s round of 16 first leg.

Bosz has lost electric winger Noa Lang for the remainder of the season with a hamstring injury, though he has featured sparingly this term after enjoying a productive start to the campaign.

American international Ricardo Pepi could continue in the XI in Lang’s absence, although playmaker Ismael Saibiri is also in contention, but Southampton defender Armel Bella-Kotchap is a doubt.

PSV predicted lineup vs Dortmund (4-2-3-1): Benitez; Teze, Ramalho, Boscagli, Dest; Schouten, Veeman; Lozano, Tillman, Pepi; De Jong.

AFCON hero Sebastien Haller is out until next month with an ankle injury, so Niclas Fullkrug will continue up top for the visitors, who are also without the speedy Karim Adeyemi.

Felix Nmecha also misses out with a hip injury, while Donyell Malen, an unused substitute in the Bundesliga at the weekend, is a doubt.

Dortmund predicted lineup vs PSV (4-2-3-1): Kobel; Wolf, Sule, Schlotterbeck, Bensebaini; Can, Sabitzer; Sancho, Reus, Brandt; Fullkrug.

Champions League knockout ties don’t come around too often at the Philips Stadion, and the PSV faithful will be in a borderline frenzy state on Tuesday as Bosz takes on his former club.

Dortmund have impressed away from home in this competition and certainly won’t fear their upcoming opponents, although PSV’s record on their own patch this term is pretty imperious, especially domestically.

Bosz’s side will get caught out by superior opposition eventually, but you could envisage them overwhelming the visitors in midweek with the sheer speed, fluidity, and intensity with which they play. There should be goals at both ends.
