Memphis Depay has made a significant mark in Dutch football, surpassing Robin van Persie’s record to become the all-time top scorer for the Netherlands with his 51st and 52nd goals.

To celebrate this achievement, PUMA collaborated with the striker to create the MD51 ULTRA – a limited-edition design that narrates his personal and professional journey.

The boots are set on a white base and feature two distinct color schemes: one in blue and black symbolizing family, faith, and culture, and the other in orange and black representing his football successes. The design includes his renowned lion tattoo, the number 10, acknowledgments of his Ghanaian heritage, and a tribute to his mother, Cora.

Nevertheless, fans won’t be able to purchase these. Only 51 pairs exist, intended exclusively for those who have influenced his life, such as family, mentors, and close friends.

“I was a young boy with big dreams; a cub became a lion on the biggest stage,” Depay stated. “Achieving the title of the Netherlands’ top male goal scorer is a true honor… I wanted to express my gratitude by giving something special to those who supported me along the way.”

For Depay, this gesture is more about personal gratitude than about creating hype. And for everyone else? It’s a clear indication that the player with the lion emblem now holds the most prominent roar in Dutch football history.
