Rodrygo insists he is not worried about his future at Real Madrid as the Spanish giants appear set to wrap up the signature of Kylian Mbappe.

Reports have claimed that Rodrygo could be sold this summer to make space for Mbappe who, in Carlo Ancelotti’s current setup, would likely start in attack alongside Vinicius Junior next season, while minutes also need to be found for big-money signing Endrick.

The rumours are of no concern to Rodrygo, however, and the Brazil international believes he will be part of a positive headache for Ancelotti when it comes to selecting his team.

“I don’t know about Mbappe yet. I think it’s close because everyone says it and I trust you, but I don’t know what’s going on either,” he confessed. “There are many of us. We’ll see what the coach decides.

“I don’t think anything. I’m just thinking about being focused on this season and finishing it well, with as many titles as possible. Next year I think it’s a coach’s problem. A good problem. And I’m calm.”

Rodrygo has found himself linked with moves to the likes of Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain, with speculative reports even suggesting he could be used in a swap deal to bring Trent Alexander-Arnold over from Anfield.

However, the 23-year-old is keen to keep his place among Madrid’s star-studded forward line and aided his cause on Sunday by scoring both goals in a 2-0 win over Athletic Club.

“He has played very well, he has made a difference, he has been able to score very early, he has a very high quality in his actions, it is what he has to do,” Ancelotti said after the game.

“Now you can say that he feels better on the left, but he is good everywhere. Let’s not forget that he scored two goals playing on the right in a Champions League semi-final.”
