Che Adams is a possible target for Wolves in the final two days of the transfer window as boss Gary O’Neil looks to improve his attacking division.

The Southampton forward, who has only one year left on his contract, is admired by a number of Premier League clubs and is an attractive option ahead of the market closing on September 1.

Wolves have also considered a move for Kelechi Iheanacho but Mail Sport understands that as of Thursday, Leicester’s asking price for the Nigeria forward was still deemed too high.

Much of Wolves’ summer activity has been restricted by concerns over Financial Fair Play but the departure of Matheus Nunes to Manchester City means the club have recouped about £150million in player sales since the end of last season.

O’Neil said: ‘I’m excited because I’m still convinced that come September 2 this squad will be in a better place than it was last week.

‘I think we’re well prepared. There’s been some really good work go on, that I’ve seen and helped with over the last couple of weeks so we’re able to do some bits and pieces and respond if things move.

‘Does that mean there are going to be loads of players arriving? Possibly, possibly not. But we’re as well prepared as we can be for the end of the transfer window.’
