Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been considered as an option to fill in as interim manager at Bayern Munich if Thomas Tuchel is dismissed from his post, according to a report.

Tuchel is under increasing pressure in Bavaria, where Bayern are in danger of a first trophy-less season since 2011/12, following three defeats on the trot.

Sky Germany claim former Man Utd boss Solskjaer is in the running to take over if Tuchel is given the boot, though the German giants are still keen to keep their current boss in position to give him the chance to turn things around.

Solskjaer won 91 of his 168 games in charge of Man Utd, having previously enjoyed two chunky spells in charge of Norwegian giants Molde either side of a stint with Cardiff City.

Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund knows Solskjaer well and is said to have ‘followed the Norwegian’s path for years’.

There is also interest in French legend Zinedine Zidane, who won the Champions League three times as manager of Real Madrid.

Defeats to Bayer Leverkusen and Bochum in the Bundesliga have seen Bayern drop eight points behind the former in the title race, while they need to overturn a first-leg defeat in their last-16 tie with Lazio after a poor performance resulted in a 1-0 loss.

Leverkusen are currently managed by Xabi Alonso, who has also been slated as a potential target for Bayern. However, they are likely to face competition for the Spaniard from Liverpool, who are preparing for the exit of long-time stalwart Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp has already endorsed Alonso as the standout talent of the next generation of managers, with Die Werkself yet to lose in Germany’s top flight this season. They are also among the favourites for the Europa League, winning all six of their group stage games.
