FOX Soccer pundit Alexi Lalas doesn’t seem too concerned after Inter Miami got demolished against an Al-Nassr side that didn’t feature Cristiano Ronaldo, who was out due to injury.

For the sake of context, this was part of Inter Miami’s long preseason tour. Al-Nassr, by comparison, are in the middle of their season and fully trained up.

But that might not be enough to forgive a 6-0 loss that embarrassed the MLS side that kept Lionel Messi on the bench until the 83rd minute.

Responding to one fan’s tweet asking how the defeat portrays the league abroad, Lalas said, ‘If you want to use a mediocre Miami team, in a preseason performance in Saudi Arabia, as a proxy for MLS, then it’s a poor portrayal that hurts perception.

He added, ‘Or, you can have perspective, shrug, and recognize the advantage MLS has in playing in a country so many want to go to.’

Al-Nassr was already up 3-0 by the time that minute 15 arrived. Midfielder Otavio bagged the first goal in the third minute – with Anderson Talisca scoring in the tenth and Aymeric Laporte getting another in the 12th.

Talisca would bag two more goals in the 51st and 73rd minute to secure his hat trick against the outclassed American side.

Saudi striker Mohammed Maran also put a goal past Miami’s Drake Callender in the 68th.

It’s been a disastrous pre-season for The Herons when it comes to results. They drew the El Salvador national team 0-0 to start their tour, then followed that up with three straight losses.

That included a 1-0 loss to FC Dallas at a near empty Cotton Bowl before jumping to Saudi Arabia and losing both games they played to Al Hilal and Al-Nassr.

Next they play the Hong Kong national team in the hopes that they’ll bounce back to finally claim a victory.
