Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams has suffered a hamstring ‘setback’ according to manager Andoni Iraola.

Adams hadn’t played since March 11 before he made his Cherries debut on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup following a summer switch from Leeds.

But it looks like his 21-minute cameo vs. Stoke City will be his only Bournemouth appearance for a while as Iraola said Saturday that the USA captain will be out for ‘some time.’

‘I don’t know what to call it, a setback, but he is not feeling well,’ Iraola told the Bournemouth Echo.

‘He has been out for a lot of time, so we have to reassess, to reset, to take the good decisions, thinking in everything. It is true that he is going to be out for some time, for sure.

‘I think it’s the same area,’ Iraola continued. ‘I couldn’t tell you if it’s exactly the same point, but it’s true that it’s his hamstring that he is not feeling well.’

Adams was an important player for Leeds last season before getting hurt, as he started 24 times in the Premier League.

However, his hamstring injury meant that his side was without him in the latter stages of the season, in which the club was ultimately relegated after finishing 19th.

Bournemouth managed to steer clear of relegation with a 15th-place finish – five points above the drop.

The Cherries then met Adams’ $25.5 million (£20million) release clause in August to sign the midfielder.
