Liverpool fans are already dreaming up their opponents in the 2023/24 UEFA Europa League quarter-finals after a dominant display in the first leg of their last-16 tie with Sparta Prague.

Darwin Nunez struck twice in a commanding 5-1 victory for the Reds, who reached the final of this competition back in 2016, and the return game could see Jurgen Klopp rest a number of his stars at Anfield. There were also big wins for Roma and AC Milan, who both took significant steps towards the last eight.

Here’s when the 2023/24 UEFA Europa League quarter-finals are due to be played.

The 2023/24 UEFA Europa League quarter-final first legs are scheduled for Thursday 11 April, with the return games then kicking off a week later on Thursday 18 April.

TNT Sports are the current rights holders for UEFA competitions in the United Kingdom and will show all the quarter-finals on their various platforms.

The draw for the 2023/24 UEFA Europa League quarter-finals will be held on Friday 15 March at UEFA’s headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. It will begin at 12:00 GMT, directly after the draw for the Champions League’s equivalent stage, and be available to watch on UEFA’s official website.

The draw for the semi-finals will also take place, meaning clubs will learn their routes to the final should they progress to the last eight.

Liverpool’s big win at Sparta Prague was a statement to the rest of the Europa League, putting five goals past their Czech opposition.

The Reds won the Champions League in 2019 and are hoping to give manager Klopp the best possible send-off before the German leaves in the summer. It’s a competition he is yet to win, having largely featured in Europe’s top-tier club competition.

Bayer Leverkusen – managed by Liverpool and Bayern Munich target Xabi Alonso – had to salvage a draw in their first leg against Qarabag in Azerbaijan but are still expected to reach the last eight, having thoroughly impressed during their Bundesliga title charge.

AC Milan reached the Champions League semi-finals last season and are searching for a first European trophy since 2007.

The 2023/24 UEFA Europa League final will be held at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Republic of Ireland.

The Aviva Stadium, which was built on the site of the iconic former Lansdowne Road Stadium, hosts Ireland’s national football and rugby union matches. The 2011 UEFA Europa League final, contested between Portuguese sides Porto and Braga, took place here.
