The end of the January transfer window is fast approaching and that can only mean two things – clubs scrambling for last-minute deals and Harry Redknapp’s crazy stories being wheeled out once again.

But what time does Deadline Day end?

What’s the business with deal sheets and getting to complete transfers after the deadline?

Mail Sport is on hand to answer all these questions and explain how Deadline Day works.

Whether you’re a football fan or a club looking to say on the right side of the rules, we’ve got you covered.

With Deadline Day fast approaching, Mail Sport is on hand to explain how it all works

What time does the transfer window end?

The January transfer window slams shut at 11pm on Thursday, February 1 for Premier League clubs.

That’s in line with LaLiga, but later than most major European leagues.

The Bundesliga window ends at 5pm, Serie A clubs have to be wrapped up by 7pm, and Ligue 1 has until 10pm.

There’s no cause for worry over whether a Saudi Pro League side will make a late swoop for your Premier League club’s top star – their window slammed shut on Tuesday.

What are deal sheets?

Deal sheets can be used by clubs to extend the deadline if they are still working on documentation to seal a transfer.

If a Premier League club needs a bit more time to formalise a transfer or loan and it is after 9pm, they can submit a deal sheet.

A signed deal sheet essentially confirms that an agreement has been reached over a transfer or loan, and that a club simply needs more time to submit documentation.

That will give them an extra two hours (until 1am) to get everything over the line if it is an internal transfer, or until midnight if it is an international transfer.

The extra documentation includes things like the contract, permission to work in the UK (if required), any transfer levies that apply, and international clearance if a player is being brought in from abroad.

Who could still be on the move?

Chelsea’s Armando Broja is one name which is pulsating around the tumour mill, with Fulham said to be mulling over a move for him.

The Blues value Broja at £50m, despite the fact he has scored just two goals all season.

Fulham are expected to make a bid in the range of £30m, while Wolves have also been linked with him, though their own financial concerns meant they hit pause on pursuing him last week.

Another player who we could see in a different shirt come February is Bryan Gil.

Brighton opened talks with Tottenham over the 22-year-old on Tuesday.

Mail Sport will release an extended guide on Deadline Day concerning players to watch out for, including Said Benrahma

Since arriving from Sevilla for £21m in 2021, he has made just four starts in the league for Spurs. He has been sent out on loan to Valencia and back to Sevilla in that period.

Watch out also for movement from Said Benrahma, Danny Ings, Trevoh Chalobah, and more.

We won’t give all of them away here – Mail Sport has a guide to names on the move coming out on Deadline Day.
