Seventeen years after appearing in “Star Trek: Nemesis,” Captain Jean-Luc Picard returned to the Star Trek universe in the series ‘Picard.’ It was set 20 years after the events in ‘The Next Generation’. Patrick Stewart, who was the captain of the USS-Enterprise throughout seven seasons and four movies, will return to play this crucial character in the second season of the franchise.

Season 2 just like its previous instalment is produced by Alex Kurtzman who is the executive producer of Star Trek universe for the CBS studios. In an interview, he explained that “Star Trek: Picard” season 2 will follow its previous instalment’s unique story.

According to the synopsis, Star Trek Picard will focus on “Picard’s interest in archaeology, and his primary mission will revolve around some artefact that has been discovered. That is, he will follow the facts right after the destruction of the Romulan Empire, which will directly affect Picard’s life.

Alex Kurtzman declined to elaborate on the juicy plot of season 2 but completed the overall brushstrokes for ‘Picard’. “The mandate was to turn it into a more psychological program, a study of the character about this man in his emeritus years. Few programs allow a significantly older protagonist to be the conductor. Hopefully, it will be a reinforcement of the optimistic vision of Roddenberry. You’ll have to go through deep valleys to get back into the light.”

The second instalment will be slower, more meditative. It talks about the rainbow of colours we are playing within all these different shows,” he added. Likewise, Kurtzman said that “The dissolution of the Romulan Empire radically altered Picard’s life.
